3rd Place Match: Marvin Weber (Dino Rabbit) vs. Lars Junginger (Plant & Frog Synchro)

18.12.2011 | 17:21 |

[p]We’re way ahead on time. In fact, we’re so much ahead, we’ll push back the final a bit and proceed with the match for the 3rd place. There’s still a [blood mefist] on the line and battling it out are Marvin Weber and Lars Junginger. Weber relied on his Dino Rabbit Deck that only let him down once this weekend while Junginger brought something rather unique to the table: His very own version of a Plant Synchro Deck that also featured [treeborn]. Let’s see who will have the upper hand in this exciting match!
[/p][p]
Junginger won the die roll and opted to go first.

[nbsp][p]
[swap frog] came out first and it sent [treeborn] to his [grave]. It returned to his hand and he passed.
[/p][p]
Weber used [duality], revealing [lance], [guaiba] and [saurus]. He picked the Quick Play Spell, added it to his hand and shuffled the other cards back in. [saurus] was [ns]ed next, he attacked for 1900 damage, set a Spell or Trap and passed.
[/p][p]
[treeborn] returned in Junginger’s Standby Phase. [caius] was Tribute Summoned and it removed [saurus], but Weber chained [bom] to turn the Monarch face-down. One set Spell or Trap later, it was Weber’s turn again.
[/p][p]
He [ns]ed [guaiba] and attacked, but [bom] turned it face-down as well. He set a Spell or Trap and passed.
[/p][nbsp]
Was this a Monarch or a Plant Synchro Deck? Or maybe both?!

[nbsp][p]
[caius] was [fs]ed. [swap frog] was [ss] as Junginger discarded [treeborn]. He sent [ronin] to his [grave] and declared an attack with [swap frog] into [guaiba]. Weber flipped [mf] and he destroyed both of Junginger’s Monsters! [hole] destroyed [guaiba] and Junginger [ns]ed [swap frog] once more, this time sending another copy of it to his [grave]. He banished it to bring back [ronin] and then Xyz Summoned [ggg].
[/p][p]
Weber was drawing into his 4th card and he simply set a Monster.
[/p][p]
[reborn] brought back [caius] for Junginger, but its attack ended in [reaper].

[nbsp][p]
[rabbit] was [ns]ed, but Junginger discarded [maxx]. Weber could only shake his head – this had happened a couple of times to him in the last match already. He still went on and brought out [dolkka], attacked over [ggg] and passed.
[/p][p]
Junginger took his time considering his next play. Eventually, he opted to set 2 Spells or Traps before simply ending his turn.
[/p][p]
Weber sent [dolkka] into [ggg], but [ced] returned the Xyz Monster to his Extra Deck. [saurus] was [ns]ed in [mp] 2 and Junginger considered his response. He had a face-down [warning], but didn’t seem too confident about using it. After much consideration, he opted to activate it and he lost 2000 Life Points.
[/p][nbsp]
We should call this Deck the black and white control!

[nbsp][p]
[treeborn] was [ss]ed during Junginger’s Standby Phase. He [ns]ed [veiler], which got him [fsynch], which in turn drew him another card. He activated [econ] to destroy [reaper], attacked with [caius] and Tuned it with [fsynch] to [scrap dragon] in his [mp] 2. He brought back [ronin] and used the effect of [scrap dragon] to destroy [lance].
[/p][p]
[hole] got rid of the Synchro Monster, but [ggg] would stick on the field. [poa] was next, Weber followed it up with [rabbit], but as always, his opponent had [maxx]. 2 copies of [saurus] came out and both were used to [ss] [dolkka]. It attacked over [ggg] and play was back to Junginger.
[/p][p]
He brought back [treeborn] and passed for his turn.
[/p][p]
Another [rabbit] for Weber and another [maxx] for Junginger. Weber couldn’t believe it and the bystanders had trouble not breaking out in laughter. This time 2 copies of [kabaz] were [ss]ed, attacks followed and after [treeborn] was destroyed by one of the [kabaz], Junginger was left with 100 Life Points and Weber Tuned both Normal Monsters to [laggia].
[/p][nbsp]
Weber now brought out the heavy hitters!

[nbsp][p]
[treeborn] came back once more. Junginger set a card to each zone and ended his turn.
[/p][p]
[mst] got rid of [mst]. Weber [ns]ed [kabaz], but before he could proceed with attacks, [veiler] got rid of [dolkka]'[s] effect. There was a reason for that as the face-down monster turned out to be [dandy]! Junginger just bought himself another turn!
[/p][p]
[treeborn] returned to the field. [econ] was supposed to take control of [laggia] ([treeborn] was Tributed), but Weber used its effect and detached the Xyz Material Monsters. [treeborn] was [ss]ed once more. Then down came [tengu]. [ronin] was [ss]ed back to the field and Junginger followed it up with [birdman], returning [ronin]. He now had everything on the field he needed to perform at least 1 Synchro Summon, however, Weber still had [dolkka]![br]
[tengu], [birdman] and [treeborn] were Tuned to [sdd] and Weber used [dolkka]'[s] effect to negate [tengu]'[s] effect. [sdd] attacked over [dolkka], Junginger set a Spell or Trap and he passed.

[nbsp][p]
It was Xyz Monsters vs. Synchro Monsters and it seemed like the Synchro Monsters came out on top of this fight. Weber [ns]ed [reaper] and he followed it up with [ground]. Junginger considered his options, but saw no way out and shuffled up his cards.
[/p][nbsp]
[header]Marvin Weber wins the first game![/header]
[nbsp][p]
Marvin Weber is only 1 Duel away from winning his very own copy of [blood mefist]. Lars Junginger on the other hand needs to dig deep and find some solutions in his Side Deck. He asked Weber why he hadn’t negated [veiler]'[s] effect in the previous Duel, which would have secured him the win a lot earlier, causing Weber to shake his head about his own mistake that almost cost him the game. Breaking Weber’s confidence might have not been Junginger’s plan, but maybe it would still work out?

[nbsp][p]
Junginger simply set a card to each zone in his opening turn.
[/p][p]
[df] was Weber’s preferred way to start the Duel. He followed it up with [rabbit] and this time Junginger had no chance to discard [maxx]. Weber seemed rather happy. 2 [kabaz] hit the field, but then Junginger used [mst] on [df]. 1 [kabaz] attacked over [dandy] and the other got rid of a token. Both were then used in [mp] 2 to bring Xyz Summon [dolkka]. Weber set 2 Spells or Traps and passed.
[/p][p]
Junginger’s hand was featuring [spore], [treeborn], [snowman] and [bulb]. He set [treeborn] and [mst] and passed.
[/p][p]
Weber had [sangan] which attacked over the last token. [dolkka] attacked into [treeborn] and Weber lost [lance] to [mst]. He set a Spell or Trap and ended.
[/p][p]
[treeborn] came back and [spore] was [ns]ed next. Both were then Tuned to [fsynch], however, [dolkka] negated the effect of the Synchro Monster and destroyed it. Junginger passed.
[/p][nbsp]
Junginger now had to come up with something!

[nbsp][p]
Attacks of [sangan] and [dolkka] left Junginger with 4700 Life Points.
[/p][p]
On his following turn, Junginger [ns]ed [tengu]. [bth] banished it, Junginger wanted to [ss] another [tengu], however, [dolkka]'[s] effect jumped in once more! The Xyz Monster didn’t have any more Material Monsters, but it didn’t seem like it needed them anyway. Junginger passed.
[/p][p]
Both attacks left Junginger with 1400 Life Points.
[/p][p]
[hole] destroyed Weber’s monsters, however, [sangan] allowed him to search his Deck for another [rabbit]. Junginger set a Monster and passed.
[/p][p]
Weber now [ns]ed [tour] and it got him another copy from his Deck. He entered his Battle Phase and attacked into [snowman], which destroyed the other [tour]. Weber ended.
[/p][p]
Play was back to Junginger who was left with [econ] and [bulb] in his hand. He considered setting [econ], but ultimately decided against it and brought back [spore] instead, banishing [dandy]. Both of his monsters left the field for [afd], but Weber found another [bth] in his back row. Junginger set [bulb] and ended his turn.
[/p][p]
[duality] revealed [reaper], [mst] and [pachy]. Weber picked the Quick Play Spell Card. He activated it, hitting [bth]. He checked both [grave]s, attacked with [tour] and Junginger used [econ] to switch it to [def]. Weber was OK with that and he passed.
[/p][nbsp]
Junginger desperately tried to find an answer...

[nbsp][p]
[treeborn] came back and it was immediately Tributed for the [econ] Junginger just drew to gain control of [tour]. [treeborn] returned to the field once more, [bulb] was [fs]ed and all Monsters were Tuned to [tghl]. [bulb] came back for yet another time and it was then Tuned with [tghl] to [gaia].
[/p][p]
Weber seemed a bit astonished by that last move, but he activated [duality] nonetheless. He found [ced] and Junginger let out a sigh. Weber set 2 Spells or Traps and ended his turn.
[/p][p]
Junginger brought back [treeborn] and checked his [grave]. He set a monster and play was back to Weber.
[/p][p]
[rabbit] was [ns]ed and then sacked to bring out 2 copies of [saurus]. Both of them were then used to Xyz Summon [dolkka], which then attacked over [swap frog]. Weber passed with 3 face-down Spells or Traps in his back row.
[/p][p]
Junginger drew and checked his [grave]. He was on 1400 Life Points while Weber was left with 7100. He didn’t perfom any actions and passed.
[/p][p]
Weber set a Spell or Trap and passed right back to Junginger, who set a Monster. Back to Weber once again.
[/p][p]
[dolkka] attacked into [treeborn] that was set. Weber passed.
[/p][p]
Junginger drew into his second card and he checked his [grave]. He had [reborn] and [gorz] in his hand and activated the Spell Card to try and bring back [tghl]. Weber checked his options before flipping [warning], still in perfect control of the game. He then used [ced] to get rid of [gaia] that stood in his way!
[/p][p]
The following turn, Weber [ns]ed [rabbit] which could take out [treeborn]. An attack with the Xyz Monster followed and that helped Weber to win the game!
[/p][nbsp]
[header]Marvin Weber wins Blood Mefist![/header]
[nbsp][p]
While the first game went back and forth, Marvin Weber seemed to be in total control over most of the final Duel in this match. He was rewarded for his amazing plays with a Super Rare [blood mefist], which will certainly help him to deal with the disappointment of losing in the Semi Finals.
