Deck Analysis: 2 time Dragon Duel Winner Erik Schmidt

[p]We just finished another Dragon Duel Championship and we’re sitting down with Erik Schmidt who tasted the glory of becoming a Champion! Let’s take a look at his Deck and see what he’s packing!
[/p]
[p][b]Erik, congratz on winning the Dragon Duel Championship, how did you do it?[/b][/p]
[p]
I had quite a few exciting games and had to play against Duelists from different nations as well as 2 of my friends. It was very exciting and some of the games were pretty close!
[/p][p]
[b]Which Deck did you play?[/b][/p]
[p]
I relied on the Gladiator Beasts as I think the Deck has a good chance to do well against Tengu Plant Decks as well as Tech Genus Decks. You keep repeating the same moves like returning [chariot] to your hand and thanks to the new support like [essedari], the Deck is flexible enough to also do well against the rest of the field!
[/p][p]
[b]Which are the key cards in your Deck?[/b][/p]
[p]
I run 3 copies of [prison] as it helps me against Decks that you can otherwise have troubles against. Tech Genus players don’t like to see it and it’s also useful against [sdd]. I main deck 2 copies of [rai oh] as it can help against many of the popular Decks at the moment and even more defensive cards like [ced] or [bth].
[/p][nbsp]

Erik Schmidt already has 2 Dragon Duel titles under his belt!

[b]It sounds like you heavily rely on your back row?[/b]
[/p][p]
Yeah, that’s right. The worst games are when you’re drawing into 5 monsters and [proving ground]. That’s pretty rare, though, as I’m only running 13 monster. I want to keep my monsters on the field as long as possible, so I also rely on [lance].
[/p][p]
[b]Do you have some cards to shut down opposing strategies?[/b]
[/p][p]
[veiler]! He’s very powerful in the current environment and helped me to overcome [marshmallon] or opposing [trishula][s].
[/p][p]
[b]What do you like the most about the Gladiator Beasts?[/b]
[/p][p]
I think the Deck is very, very flexible. You can easily adapt to your opponents game plan and side in cards that help you to make a comeback if you didn’t win the first Duel!
[/p][p]
Wow, Erik obviously has what it takes to win tournaments. He just told me it’s already the second Dragon Duel Championship he’s won today, so let’s take a closer look at his Deck!
