Hi Bernd, tell us why you brought your unique Paleo-Zoo-Senju Deck to YCS Prague?

I did not want to lose to Dimensional Barrier. Yosenju and Paleos are basically unaffected by Dimensional Barrier. Only the Zoo engine falls victim to this powerful trap card. I can build a field without having to worry about getting stopped dead in my tracks. I even gave up on running Zoodiac Ratpier as the card is not good enough in my Deck. I only wanted to have an option to put single Zoodiac Drident to the field as it is basically immune to Interrupted Kaiju Slumber. The goal of the Deck is to get into the late game and grind out the game. The regular Zoo builds runs out of steam quickly. The Yosenju engine helps me to get into Zoodiac Broadbull and Zoodiac Barrage to go into Traptrix Rafflesia to build some defence. Their effect is not bad at all and they swarm the field to dish out a lot of damage.

What were your expectations for this event?
I wanted to make Day 2, but at the moment it is not looking good for me. I will finish Day 1 just to find out how the Deck is performing and probably find so ways to tweak it. It is a lot of fun piloting the Deck. The surprised look on the face of my opponents is worth more than any victory.

Do have any Tech cards?
Lost Wind is one of my best cards and keept me surprising all day long. I can search it with Paleozoic Marrella and put it in my grave. When my opponent knows that I have the card set they start to play around it forcing them into suboptimal plays. Another unusual pick is Ring of Destruction. I can destroy any Zoodiac monster as the all have 0 attack points in the Graveyard. When I hit a Kaiju it means a lot of damage to my opponent.

Tell us about your Match-Ups?
The Deck was built to beat Zoodiacs. That’s my best Match-Up. I run a lot of trap cards to stop their plays. I want to stop them from building a field. Infernoid is my worst Match-Up. As soon as they got their set up they are really hard to beat. I even decided to run a higher card count to weaken That Grass Looks Greener.

Any last words?
I want to give shoutouts to team etcg and to all the Nürnberger and Bamberger Duelists that remained at home. I feel like people should rather play the Deck they like instead of the Deck they feel they need to play in order to be successful.
