Deck Profile: Dominic Milinski’s “Machinozaurs”
[p]YCS Brighton took place a little less than 2 months ago, however, a lot has happened since! Order of Chaos has had quite an impact on competitive play, introducing 2 brand new archetypes to the competitive scene! While Inzektors, Wind-Up and the most successful Deck in Brighton, Dino Rabbit, seem to get a lot of recognition prior to the tournament, we can still find players like Dominic Milinski that instead revisit archetypes that couldn’t make an impact lately. They constantly try and innovate their existing Decks and out come interesting strategies like… Machina Evolzars?! Head inside and take a closer look!
Side Deck: 15
1 [trap stun]
Extra Deck: 14
Please explain the basic strategy of your Deck for us?
Dominic: “Basically, it works like every other Machina Deck. You try to apply pressure with the Gadgets, [frame] and [fortress] as you rarely run out of monsters. They then try to fight back, you use removal like [smash] and then try to grind out the game.
Do you have alternative strategies that can lead to victory?
Dominic: “The Deck also features [offering] which can allow you to catch your opponent off-guard. You can summon multiple Gadgets during the same turn and overwhelm him after Xyz Summoning into strong monsters like [utopia]!
What’s the special ingredient in your Deck?
Dominic: “I’m running a trap few players expect to see: [dna]! As all the Gadgets are level 4, I can Xyz Summon [dolkka] and [laggia] after declaring “Dinosaur” for its effect. The Deck doesn’t entirely rely on this strategy, it also works when I don’t draw into [dna]. However, some opponents come prepared and can easily deal with machines, but not with the powerful Evolzars!
“Additionally, I play a couple of 1-of’s that can provide me with an out against certain cards. Like [trooper] that can get rid of opposing [rai oh]'[s].”
What’s your Side Decking strategy?
Dominic: “My Side Deck features a lot of 1-of’s. It gives me the flexibility to adapt to a number of different Decks, so I can always make a comeback after a less successful first game.”
Do you expect to make day 2 with your Deck?
Dominic: “I mainly came here to have fun. At the end of the day, I want to have more wins than losses and be able to say: “I had a blast!” So far, it all looks rather promising, with so many players all coming together in the same venue!
Any shout outs?
Dominic: “I would like to greet my friends from my local store, the Hachtenberg in Berlin!”
