Deck Profile: Kai Lin’s Spirit Beasts
In Round 6 we featured a Spirit Beast player on our live stream. Here’s another Spirit Beast decklist of Kai Lin. He’s holding an X:1 records after Round 6. See what he has to say about his deck.
3 [mind crush]
1 [sky cavalry]
3 [ulti cannahawk]
3 [ulti apelio]
2 [ulti pettlephin]
Hi Kai, I see you chose Spirit Beasts as todays Deck. Why is that?
The deck suits my playstyle, I just had to play it. It is very consistent to me. All the combos need only two cards and you can pull them off quite easily. The main goal of the deck is to Fusion Summon [ulti cannahawk] and search your for trap cards like [steeds] and [ambush]. Having my set-up I can control my opponent and play it safe.
What are your expectations for this event?
This is my last YCS in Europe. I’m originally from China and came to Germany to study and I’m going back soon. I’m kind of sad, but we have a nice organized play in China as well. Right know I’m x:1 after Round 6, to be honest I didn’t expect to be that good. Now I want to win the last two Rounds as well and make it to Day 2.
Do have any Tech cards?
I maindeck [df]. It’s a spell so I can activate it right away, I want to banish as many monsters as possible. My banished pile is my “resource pile”. I’m also maindecking trap cards like [warning] to stop [denko] and [ring]. The deck can end the game quickly but sometimes I need to do that little extra damage. That’s when [ring] comes in handy.
Tell us about your Match-Ups?
I don’t have any particularly good or bad Match-Ups, the deck is doing what it’s supposed to do. Only one card hurts me a lot: [decree]. That’s why I’m maindecking three copies of [mst]. I need to get rid of that card immediately.
Any last words?
I want to say thank you to Oliver Lukenda. We are studying together and he’s a good friend to me. I also want to thank my friends from HBE. See you soon!
