Performapal Performage has been a very popular Deck this weekend, so we’ve decided to ask one of the people playing this Deck what their opinion on it is! We spoke to Kiwy Huang, a Duelist from England who’s taken a break from Judging to participate in the main event. He’s a big fan of Sydney, and has attended every Australian YCS so far! Why did you decide to bring this Deck to YCS Sydney?

Kiwy: It was the best Deck to play, and it’s quite shiny – I like shiny cards!

What are your expectations for the event?

Kiwy: I haven’t played in a YCS in 2 years (since I usually judge at them), but I decided to play this since I was on holidays. I didn’t expect to do well at all, but I have a 5-1-1 record!

What’s your ideal opening move with this Deck?

Kiwy: I need just Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer, Guiding Ariadne, and Performapal Skullcrobat Joker. Activate Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer and Guiding Ariadne, use Luster to destroy Ariadne to search another copy, plus a Counter Trap (let’s say Solemn Strike). Normal Summon Skullcrobat Joker to add Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer, activate Ariadne, then Pendulum Summon both Sorcerer and the first Ariadne, then destroy both Ariadnes with Pendulum Sorcerer’s effect to search for Performapal Monkeyboard and Skullcrobat Joker. The 2 Ariadnes will get 2 more Counter Traps, like Solemn Warning or Ultimate Providence. Then Xyz Summon Traptrix Rafflesia and Set the 3 Trap Cards. It’s a really safe field, only takes 3 cards to pull off, and it sets you up for a strong turn 2 as well.

Do you have any tech picks coming into the event?

Kiwy: Breakthrough Skill. It’s great against Cyber Dragon Infinity, I can discard it with Twin Twisters and Ultimate Providence (which lets it negate Counter Traps), and it works well against the Artifacts in the Kozmo Artifact Deck. I’m also using 2 Flying "C" in the Main Deck, and I’ve never lost a game where I’ve Summoned it on my opponent.

What do you think is your worst matchup?

Kiwy: Definitely the mirror match. Everything else is much easier to play against, but Performapal Performage definitely causes me the most trouble.

Do you have any final words?

Kiwy: I’d like to give a big shoutout to everyone who lent me cards for the Deck!

Thank you for sharing your Deck with us today, Kiwy, and good luck in the rest of the event!
