We are still early into Day 1 of YCS Prague and Tuncay Ölmez is still undefeated with one of the possible sleeper picks for this event: Mermails. The Deck received support in the form of Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince. The one card that opens up a lot of plays.
But read for yourself why Tuncay chose the Deck for this event. Here is his list and his thoughts on card choices.

Hi Tuncay, tell us why you brought Mermails to YCS Prague?

I didn’t want to play Monarchs, it “bricks” too often and I couldn’t get my hands on Kozmo cards. It was the third best choice and so far I’m feeling very confident with it. The Decks biggest strength is that it only needs two cards to go off and OTK easily. The Deck is also very versatile. I can rip cards from my opponents hand with Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier and Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord.

What are your expectations for this event?
I hope to top, but Day 2 would already be good resut for me. Last year Prague was a very good event for me. I made it to Top 32 and lost, very unfortunate.

Do have any Tech cards?
I run two copies of Double Summon in the Main Deck that combos nicely with Genex Undine and Deep Sea Diva. With the held of Tatsunoko I can start a lot plays. I just helps to get to my cards and combos. Forbidden Chalice is a tech card to handle Abyss Dweller and the fiends.

Tell us about your Match-Ups?
Monarchs is a favourable Match-Up for me. They don’t play any backrow and can’t stop my plays. PePe is most difficult because it’s too fast for me and can easily go into Abyss Dweller. Kozmo is annoying due to Solemn Strike and the backrow. My biggest advantage is that most players don’t have a Side Board against Mermails.

Any last words?
I want to give shoutsouts to all the Austrian players here in Prague and back at home.
