Deck Profile: Weng Tran’s and Alex Sierra’s Lockdown Ninjas

[p]Only one more round to go and we’ll know who will still have a shot at winning YCS Leipzig and which Duelists will be eliminated from competition. I invited 2 Duelists to my table that are close to securing their spot in day 2: Weng Tran and Alex Sierra! Both are currently sitting on 5 – 1 – 1 records, piloting a unique take of the Ninja archetype through the event!

[quote][p][b]Can you explain the basic strategy of your Deck for us?[/b]
[/p][p]
[b]Weng:[/b] “We need 2 different cards: [hanzo] and [safe zone]. [hanzo] can search for [naost] and as soon as our opponent invites a monster to the party, we use [naost] to bring out [wdn]. Together with [safe zone], there are few outs for our opponent; basically, it’s only [mole], [trishula], [brionac] and [caius], none of which are easy to Summon for the popular Decks!”
[/p][p]
[b]It seems your Deck is also sporting a lot of cool combos?[/b]
[/p][p]
[b]Alex:[/b] “Absolutely! If we’re getting paired against Dino Rabbit Decks, we often activate [safe zone] on our opponent’s [laggia]. They rarely negate it as they’re waiting for a card that would actually destroy their monster. We then follow it up with [planter], which sends [safe zone] as a cost to the Graveyard, so there’s no way for [laggia] to negate it!”
[/p][p]
[b]What about the Deck’s consistency?[/b]
[/p][p]
[b]Weng:[/b] “Thanks to 3 copies of [upstart] as well as 3 copies of [duality], our opening hand features [hanzo] in something like 80% of the cases. We also play [rota] to give us additional security.”
[/p][p]
[b]If you can’t apply the lock, which other ways can lead to victory?[/b]

Weng Tran and Alex Sierra follow the sneaky way to victory!

[nbsp][quote][p]
[b]Alex:[/b] “We’re also running [bls] as we send Lights and Darks to our Graveyard in no time.”
[/p][p]
[b]You also mentioned some unique Side Decking strategy?[/b]
[/p][p]
[b]Weng:[/b] We run a number of cards in our Side Decks that can’t be destroyed as a result of battle. They buy us lots of time against Dino Rabbit Decks, so we only need to watch our [wmc] to collect enough counters to decide the games in one single turn. This helped us catch many a Dino Rabbit player off guard, so we’re doing pretty well against the the most popular Deck!
