Hi Zoltan, tell us why you brought your unique Atlantean Frog Deck to YCS Bochum?

It’s an Atlantean Deck with Paleozoics. I was sure to play Paleozoics for this event as the Deck has such an amazing match-up against Metalfoes. I like playing it because the Deck can buy you enough time to develop your board. All the other Decks feel like a hit and run strategy at the moment. The Atlantean engine helps to handle problem cards like Jinzo, Royal Decree and Denko Sekka. I can stall in the early game using Cat Shark. Whan I detach I get to pop a card with Atlantean Heavy Infantry. The Deck can also play aggressive putting a lot of pressure on my opponent until they run out of traps. The mirror match is a resource game. With the Atlantean engine I usually have more monsters than my opponent. Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince is just a great card in general, it’s a +1.

What were your expectations for this event?
I did not expect to do that good. I was surprised that the Deck is running so well today. I guess it’s due to the fact that I’m playing my own unique creation this event. Until now I was more or less netdecking the best Decks of the latest events. My best result was 7 wins at YCS Rimini. Right now my record is 8:1:2 and I hope to sneak into the Top 32. When I rely on my own build it seems to work out a lot better.

Do have any Tech cards?
I run Cosmic Cyclone in my Side Deck. I put it in against mostly anything. It’s good against Paleozoics, because I banish a trap and they lose the chance to Chain the effect of their trap cards. Against Metalfoes I use it to banish [m fusio]. As they are only running one copy they lose the ability to fusion Summon at all. I will probably main it after the event.

What is the best opening hand?
I want to see Deep Sea Diva, Swap Frog and Atlantean Heavy Infantry. I can open with PSY-Framelord Omega and Toadally Awesome and 4 cards in my hand. I was thinking running Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord but I didn’t want to be too much dependent on opening with Deep Sea Diva. It’s dead otherwise.

Any last words?
Shoutouts to Legany Barnabas for playtesting and helping me build the Deck. Shoutouts to Nagy Krisztian for giving me the Atantean cards and shoutouts to Mednyänszky Robert for giving me a Coral Dragon. Last but not least I want to give shoutouts to Burkus Bence, because he’s so bad that he will never have the opportunity to appear in a coverage without getting a shoutout. *laughs*.
