Diary Duelist Update #2

[p]We’re about to wrap things up, which means we’ll also provide you with a last update for the day of our Diary Duelists!

Jarel kept his head up despite his performance today!

Let’s hear from Jarel what’s been good today:
[/p][quote][p]
[b]Jarel:[/b] Round 6, I played against Wind-Ups and I won 2 – 0 with [burei] and [bureido]. The second game, I dropped [gorz] after he attacked with [17] and then I followed it up with [rai oh]. I could get rid of his [mf] with [mst] – usually, I don’t “blind Space”, but it worked out really well in that game.
[/p][p]
In the last round of the day, I went first and I set [geargia armor] and [bth]. He had [alius], I used [bth], but he chained [spark]. I had another [armor], he then had [hero blast], he followed it up with another [alius] and he attacked over my lonely monster.
[/p][p]
He then had [stratos] and [xyz] into [ban]. He attacked twice with it, which meant game!

Jarel and Frazier were in high demand all day!

I also asked Jarel what he’ll be doing tomorrow:
[/p][quote][p]
[b]Jarel:[/b] I think I’ll enter the Public Events tomorrow. I don’t know what will happen if I take down the “Win a Trip” event, but I’ll try my best!
[/p][p]
I will side into different decks the whole rest of the weekend, I promise you that!

So much from fan-favorite Jarel. Let’s hear what Eduard had to say!
[/p][nbsp]
Eduard doesn't know yet whether he'll be playing tomorrow, but he'll definitely stop by!

[nbsp][quote][p]
[b]Eduard:[/b] In Round 6, I played against a Wind-Up player. Usually, that is quite a favorable match-up for me as I can deal lots of damage after he [ss]ed several monsters to the field. If you then have [lava golem], it’s pretty much over for him. If you don’t find the Golem, it’s just the other way round. I did have it and that’s why I won.
[/p][p]
The second game, it was more or less the same. I blocked his field with [ojama trio] and then found another [lava golem], so that was rather easy thanks to some protection with [waboku] and [roar].
[/p][p]
I had a chance to make it to the second day with my 4 – 2 record. I got paired against Mermails and he came out really strong. All I could do was trying to hang in there for as long as possible. I successfully defended myself for several turns, looking for [deserts]. I didn’t find it, however, my opponent was able to [ss] [dewloren] to the field and that turned it around.
[/p][p]
The other game went rather similar, so I just missed the cut and won’t be able to continue playing in the Main Event tomorrow.
[/p][/quote][nbsp][p]
Eduard surprised me when asked about the Public Events for the second day:
[/p][quote][p]
[b]Eduard:[/b] I don’t know if I’ll be enrolling in the Public Events tomorrow. I might just hang out at the top tables and see what the more successful Duelists brought to the table this weekend.
[/p][p]
I think a good deck choice for this weekend were Agents and Chaos Dragons and I expect them to make a strong showing at the top tables!

That leaves us with Mathijs, so let’s hear it from him!
[/p][nbsp]
Mathijs made Sherlock Holmes proud, analyzing all his matches in great detail!

[nbsp][p]
Mathijs told me that he continued with his good performance. He ended up 5 – 2 as he lost in Round 6. It was his first Wind-Up match of the day; he drew into way too many monsters and that meant he couldn’t stop his opponent’s combos.
[/p][p]
He tried to sport a comeback with [poa], but when his opponent also found some of his stronger Spell Cards, he was able to claim the win.
[/p][p]
The second game, Mathijs’ opening hand was a lot better, but his opponent drew into all of the Side Deck tech that worked extremely well against the Dutch’s deck. That meant he could clean sweep him 2 – 0.
[/p][quote][p]
[b]Mathijs:[/b] “It wasn’t a big deal, though, as he invited me for a party this evening! I might stop by!”
[/p][/quote][nbsp][p]
In the last round of the day, the first Duel took 36 minutes and Mathijs won. In the overtime game, Mathijs drew into a very good hand which helped him finish the game in just a few turns, quite a contrast when compared to the first game!
[/p][p]
Asked about his expectations for tomorrow, Mathijs told me this:
[/p][quote][p]
[b]Mathijs:[/b] “Basically, I’m still hopeful. I think it has a lot to do with the location. There’s a good ventilation system that makes sure we get fresh air all day; you can also go outside in no time and have a drink and that makes it a lot easier to stay focused.
[/p][/quote][p]
That concludes the first day from the perspective of the Diary Duelists. We’ll check on them again tomorrow to see how they’ve been doing in the respective events they’ll be enrolling in. You can definitely tell that none of them regretted making the trip to Barcelona and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon.
