Dragon Duel Championship Final: Edisson (FRA) vs Fabio (GER)

29.06.2014 | 17:20 |

This weekend 39 young Duelists from all over Europe have competed against each other in the Dragon Duel which has been running parallel to the Main Event. These two Duelists have bested the rest to secure their trip to the World Championship in Rimini Italy and now they are playing for the glory! Edisson is a French Duelist while Fabio comes from Germany.

It was a relaxed atmosphere as both Duelists knew they had already secured their place in the World Championship to represent their continent. Edisson won the die roll and used [pod] to take [geargiagear]. He set five cards and passed to Fabio.

The young German studied his hand and decided to Summon [a pike]. It discarded [a mark] to search [linde] and Edisson used his set [geargiagear] to bring out [g mk2] and [geargiano]. [bom] went to stop [a pike] from attacking but [lance] let is destroy the [g mk2].

Edisson Summoned [armor] and [xyz]ed [ggx]. It searched another [armor] and attacked over the Fish Monster.

Fabio set a card to each zone and passed but lost his [wiretap] to [mst] in the End Phase.

[ggx] searched a [g auto] from the Deck and [armor] was Summoned. [g auto] was [ss]ed and [dweller] was [xyz]ed. The effect meant Fabio’s set [linde] couldn’t use the effect and the German took some damage.

[gob] and [firehand] hit the field and became [eek]. [tt] destroyed the [eek] but the effect was chained and the field was wiped.

Edisson drew and played [soul charge]! He paid 3000 to take two [armor] and a [g auto], [xyz]ing another [ggx] to take [g mk2] from the Graveyard. He set the remaining [armor] and a [st] and passed.

Fabio set a card to each zone and allowed the French Duelist to play again.

He took [g auto] from the Graveyard courtesy of [ggx] and flipped [armor] to search. [g mk2] was Summoned and the effect bought back [geargiano]. They stacked up as materials for [silvermountain] and when the effect was used Fabio responded with his set [a sphere] to bring out [linde] in [def].

[silvermountain] attacked over [abyssdine] and retrieved a [g auto]. In [mp2] [50] ensured [linde] wouldn’t get the effect and [armor] was flipped down.

Fabio could only set a monster, well on the defensive.

Edisson used his [armor] to search for a [g auto] on the next turn so that he could [xyz] [ddw]. The effect destroyed Fabio’s only card on the field – a set [a gunde] – and had more than enough attack on the field to end the first game!

His six cards found his hand and the only play on the first turn was to set a Monster and two [st]s.

Edisson Summoned [g arsenal] and used the effect to set [armor]. He too set two but they were both blasted by [mst]s in the End Phase – a [geargiagear] and [mst] of his own.

Fabio Summoned [a ocea] and flipped his [abyssdine] to bring out [xm]. It searched [gob] and [mind control] took [armor]. It was flipped and [101] was [xyz]ed. Both Monsters attacked and Edisson was down a chunk of LP.

He foughtback with [g mk2] to revive [g arsenal]. [g auto] was [ss]ed and used with the Arsenal to make [101] and take his opponent’s copy of the same card. It attacked over [xm] and it was the German’s turn to eat some damage.

Fabio set a card to each zone.

[g mk2] formed [silvermountain] on the next turn and targetted a chained [lance]. [101] attacked over [linde] which searched [a pike] and discarded [a gunde] to revive [abyssdine] and search another [linde]. Abyssdine used her effect to revive [a ocea] and suddenly Fabio had a full field. Silvermountain went to attack but Edisson forgot that Fabio had used [lance] on it earlier and it was destroyed! Rather than risk anything, in [mp2] Edisson played [hole] – his [101] survived.

Fabio drew to two in hand but had nothing else. [linde] was discarded to [ss] [teus] which searched another [linde]. It was Normal Summoned and rammed in to [101] to [ss] [a megalo] which attacked and the resulting damage left Edisson on 2200. In [mp2] [gaios] was [xyz]ed.

Edisson set a card to each zone.

Fabio attacked over [armor] which searched and the German set a [st].

Edisson Summoned [g arsenal] and set a [armor] from his Deck.

Fabio Summoned [icehand] and attacked with [gaios] over Armor then directly. [a sphere] attempted to end the game but [wiretap] kept Edisson in it.

The French Duelist set a card to each zone and on the next turn Fabio attacked over [g auto] which returned a [armor] to the hand. [gaios] attacked in to [prison] and the German set a [st].

Edisson Summoned [armor] and [g auto]. They made [dweller] and attacked over [icehand] after detaching.

Fabio set a monster.

Dweller detached and attacked over another [icehand]. Fabio set another Monster.

Edisson attacked over a third [icehand] but hit a chained [debunk]. At the end of the Main Phase [a sphere] was used and [maxx] was chained. The monster bought out was destroyed in the End Phase.

Fabio set a Monster – revealed as [firehand] when Dweller attacked and destroyed it.

A few turns of setting [st]s followed and Edisson had five [st]s to Fabio’s one and two cards in hand.

[a hilde] met a [prison] and on the next turn Edisson had [df].

[a pike] met [fiendish] and Edisson set a Monster.

Fabio added a second [st] and Edisson flipped [geargiano]. It was tributed to revive [armor] in [def].

Fabio had [mst] for [df] and discarded [a drag] for [a teus]. [a mark] and [a pike] were searched and the latter was Summoned discarding the former. Another [a mark] was searched and Edisson’s dead [sw] was destroyed. [50] was [xyz]ed and in the knowledge that he was about to lose his last LP Edisson picked up his cards!

Edisson started the third and final game with two backrow cards.

Fabio studied his hand and discarded [abyssdine] to [ss] [a teus]. [maxx] was discarded and [a teus] searched out [a ocea]. Abyssteus attacked successfully and Fabio set two.

Edisson Summoned [g arsenal] and used it to grab a [armor] from the Deck which was flipped face down. At the end of his Main Phase Fabio used [a sphere] to get [linde]. It was destroyed in the [ep] and Edisson’s [debunk] was countered by [wiretap]. [a pike] hit the field and [a ocea] was discarded to search [a mark].

[nbsp]
Fabio’s turn started with [mst] on [bth]. [a mark] and [a pike] were discarded for [a megalo]. [a sphere] was searched and the set [armor] was destroyed! This meant [a megalo] could use the effect of tributing [a pike] enabling it to attack twice! That was enough damage to end the game and a very sporting Edisson shook his hand like a true competitor.
