We are right after Round 6 of YCS Liverpool. Here we are again with Corey Day, who’s running an innovative Metalfoes Yang Zing deck. After a rather rough start he’s here at the coverage booth to keep us updated on his progress.

Hi Corey, thanks for showing up again. How’s it going for you?
A lot better than the first three Rounds. My record improved to 2:4. It’s still not quite what I was expecting, but a lot better than before. My mood is a lot better and a lot of pressure fell off my shoulders when I won my first match.
Can you give us an overview of your matches?
Sure! Round 4 I faced another Blue Eyes deck. My experiences from the previous game helped me out a lot. I knew what to do and won the match. In Game 1 I opened the combo and he had no answer to it. Game 2 he threw 3 [bewd] on the field and there was nothing I could do. Game 3 I had the combo again. He nearly succeeded to break it. Lucky me he ran out of resources. Round 5 was Metalfoes Majespector. In Game 1 I built my field the way I wanted it to and he had no outs to it. In Game 2 he started and spammed the field full of monsters due the Pendulum mechanic. He even added two more backrow cards and that was it. Game 3 turned onto a very strange grind game. I didn’t open too bad but I couldn’t go into the combo. . I was able to partially set up my board with [vod] and [38]. He got rid of [38] with a Kaiju monster. The game ended with me crashing my Metalfoes Orichalc into his. We both destroyed a monster on the field (see the picture above). Since I had more monsters than him I was able to attack for game. The match was really fun to play. The first two games only took 5 minutes. The third game took me half an hour to win. Round 6 I faced my Kryptonite: Mermails. They play too many hand traps and my deck doesn’t like them at all. Both games were exactly the same. I started both games, but I couldn’t get to my combo and my opponent opened the nuts. I lost both games quickly.
So what are your plans for the rest of the event?
The whole day was exhausting. I will see how Round 7 will turn out. Since I won’t be able to make it to Day 2 anymore I will be playing Public Events tomorrow. There are so many great events tomorrow, I don’t know yet. I guess I will enter an Attack of the Giant Card event.
Hopefully the Public Events will bring him better luck than the Main Event. We will meet Corey tomorrow once more to see how he is doing.
