Duelist Profile: Lionel Warin & Soulaimane Lamrani

544 players heeded our call and showed up to celebrate the exciting Sealed Pack Play format at YCS Brussels this weekend. I decided to pick 2 of the hometown heroes in attendance today and sat down with Lionel Warin and Soulaimane Lamrani.

Let’s hear from you, have you been to a lot of high level tournaments before?
No, not at all. In fact, it’s the first YCS for both of us and we’re having a good time so far.
What about the packs you received, are you happy with the contents?

Lionel pointed out that he wasn’t very happy with the cards that he’d been dealt with, but he was still able to win a match, leaving him on a 1 – 1 record for the time being.

Soulaimane quickly claimed that his pool was even worse and he backed it up with his 0 – 2 record.
I was surprised to hear that they had to travel for a full hour, given that they’re “locals”. Unfortunately, the traffic in Brussels can be quite thick and therefore, these Duelists also travelled here by public transport. Unfortunately, the busses also need to make it through traffic, which can apparently take quite a while…

Both players agreed that they’ll continue playing in the Main Event for a few more rounds, unless their records are getting much more negative. Fortunately, we still feature a lot of Public Events all weekend long, giving them a great opportunity to play with their brand new decks following the rules of the new Forbidden and Limited Card List.

What do you think about the new Forbidden and Limited List?
We both have to change a lot of cards in our existing Decks, so that will be very challenging.
[nbsp]
What are your plans for the future, will we get to see you again in London?
It doesn’t look like we can make YCS London since it’s already so close and the city can be a bit expensive. So we’ll probably give it a pass, but look forward to future events near our hometown or close by in France. We’d definitely try to attend again then.
