Duelist Profile: Our Duelists from Kuwait!

Earlier today you saw one of our players from Kuwait take on a Chain Burn Deck and not come out the better for it. It transpires that 15 players from Kuwait came to this YCS to see if they could take the championship back to the Middle East. I sat down with all of them to see what inspired them to fly nine hours to Duel Europe’s finest.
Here’s a shot of a bunch of the guys from Kuwait that made the trip:
I sat down with them and got to know a bit more about the ygo scene in Kuwait.
So how many of you made the trip and how much of a big decision was it?
There are 15 of us in total. As soon as the YCS was announced we saw that it fell on a national holiday in Kuwait and decided that it was time we made the trip to a YCS. It was a big decision to fly all the way but has been completely worth the nine hour trip so far.
So this is all of your first YCS?
This is all of our first sanctioned tournament! We all had to sign up for COSSY IDs – it was exciting! In Kuwait we do not have any organised play at the moment but we are hoping that will change at some point in the future!
So how do you get together to play?
Mohammad owns a shop and he gets the cards sent in to the country. We all play there – it’s the main base for ygo for us!
Does that mean you all knew each other before ygo?
No! None of us did – we all met through playing the game. We play every day of the week other than Friday! It’s such a great thing to get us to come together and hang out.
So how are you finding your first YCS experience?
It’s great – we are so happy. The organisation is perfect and we have met some really great people including a couple of people that we knew from online.
How are your players doing so far? What Decks are you playing
Not so badly! There are three of us playing Bujin, two playing Fire Fist and the rest is all our own preference! Two of us are on 5-2 and Faizal is 6-1. He is our best player at the moment!
Does he always win back home too?
No! We think he is doing so well today because there are ladies around and he can impress them!
There was a lot of laughing. Poor Faizal looked pretty shy!
So you would consider coming back for another YCS?
Definitely! If it’s possible and the dates are all in our favour then we will definitely come back.
Anything else you want to say while you’re here?
We have learned so much from this – for example I know it hurts way more to misplay in a YCS than in a casual game! We really look forward to some more ygo support in the Middle East soon… the game is so popular at home!
A huge thanks to the guys from Kuwait for flying over to YCS Berlin and we hope to see them at future events!
