Friday’s Public Events: What to expect!
Even though the main event of WCQ: European Championship 2016 doesn’t start until tomorrow morning, there is already a lot to enjoy here in at the Estrel Convention Hall in Berlin. Friday is full of Public Events and Last Chance Qualifiers, meaning that you still have a chance to compete in the main event. Here’s a look at the action today!
So what’s going on? What can you expect from a Friday at WCQ: European Championship? In case you didn’t qualify at Nationals or a Regional, the WCQ: Last Chance Qualifiers are – as the name states – your last chance to sneak into the main event. Last Chance Qualifiers are held throughout the whole day. All you have to do is make it to the finals of a 8 person knock-out tournament. This means you have to win twice in a row, but a single loss results in elimination. The first two spots of each WCQ: Last Chance Qualifier will earn an invite for tomorrow’s WCQ: European Championship 2016.
Of course there is the usual Win-A-Mat Public Event program using different formats like Sealed and Booster Draft. Some players use this opportunity to playtest under “live” conditions and make final adjustments to their Main and Side Deck, but most don’t want to give away too much information going into this big event. Preparation and knowledge are crucial factors in a big event like this!
Last but not least the Token booth is back again. Just like last year in Dublin you can get your own custom tokens printed – all of it is free of charge! All you have to do is get in line and pick a background picture. From previous events I know that these tokens are a very nice souvenir to take home and remember this great event.
