Goodbye Brighton!

18.12.2011 | 19:50 |
It's been an amazing weekend full of Dueling action here in Brighton! The big story of the weekend was the breakthrough of Dino Rabbit Decks on a major stage. Granted, they did see play a little more than a month ago at YCS Kansas, however, they were dominating YCS Brighton left and right, making up 50% of the Top 16 and claiming the Top 3 seats in the final standings!

In a Top 8 made up of 2 French, 2 British, 3 German and 1 Dutch Duelists, Nathan Pang and Ping Xiao made sure the title wouldn't leave English soil, facing each other in the finals. They had been playing each other a million times before in local tournaments and certainly didn't expect to come out on top of a field of 725 Duelists, featuring Europe's finest Duelists as well as some renowned visitors from the US.

Ping Xiao eventually overcame his friend in a hard fought final where both players had to stay focused with the added pressure of hundreds of Duelists watching their every move. Xiao went for a huge push when all Pang needed was Gorz the Emissary of Darkness, but lady luck was on his side and he can now call himself a Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Winner!

No one was able to stop Ping Xiao who overcame 724 Duelists!

The main event was the perfect conclusion to one of the most successful years in Yu-Gi-Oh!'s rich history and many cool prizes were up for grabs this weekend! We handed out more than 50 gamemats in Win-a-mat events, saw 27 young Duelists battle it out for the title of Dragon Duel Champion and welcomed 117 players who all wanted to win a free trip to YCS #100 in Long Beach, which will be held in March 2012 - Wytze Kluitenberg came out on top of this tournament and we'll wish him all the best for a great performance in Long Beach!

Don't forget about our Attack of the Giant Cards winners that claimed supersized versions of Tour Guide From the Underworld, Rescue Rabbit and Number 17: Leviathan Dragon! On top of that, we crowned two more lucky winners of Blood Mefist: Thomas Rose as well as Callum Bilbe! You can find their pictures in our coverage as we just give it the finishing touch. In the meantime, go and check out the Top 16 Decklists to know what to expect in the upcoming tournaments. 2012 is sure to be another successful year for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG!

Once again congratulations to Thomas Rose, Callum Bilbe, Wytze Kluitenberg and Ping Xiao, the most successful Duelists of Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Brighton!

Be sure to check back in February when we'll bring you all the action from YCS Leipzig!
