LCQ #2 Final: Dylan Demongeot (Dino Rabbit) vs. Guyan Iiyanage (T.G. Anti)

[p]It all comes down to this! That might sound a little premature, considering that the final will take place in 2 days, however, it’s never been more true for Dylan Demongeot from France and Guyan Iiyanage from the UK who are now facing each other in the final of a Last Chance Qualifier. The winner will be allowed to participate in the European Championship where he can then try to earn an invite for the World Championship and the winner will have to walk away knowing that he just lost a huge opportunity.
[/p][p]
Demongeot won the die roll and opted to go first.

His opening hand didn’t feature the much anticipated [rabbit], so he had to consider his first play for a bit. He Set a Spell or Trap together with [kabaz] and that concluded his turn.
[/p][p]
Iiyanage [ns]ed [rhino], which caused Demongeot to reveal his face-down [warning]. Iiyanage Set 2 Spells or Traps and ended as well.
[/p][p]
Back to Demongeot, who [fs]ed [kabaz] and attacked directly. That worked, he Set 2 and play was back to Iiyanage.

[reborn] brought back [rhino] and Demongeot responded with [bth]. That didn’t mark the end of the chain, though, as Iiyanage found [tt] in his back row to make sure he would get to search during the End Phase. Demongeot used [mst] on the newly Set [bom] while Iiyanage searched for [striker].
[/p][nbsp]
Demongeot simply Set a Spell or Trap.

Iiyanage felt it was time to get rid of the threats, so he used [hole] to destroy both of Demongeot’s monsters. The French Duelist searched his Deck for [rabbit], Iiyanage Set a monster and it was up to Demongeot again.
[/p][p]
[rabbit] was [ns]ed, this then got Demongeot 2 [kabaz], however, Iiyanage found [bth] in his back row to banish them for good! Demongeot thought about a possible response, but couldn’t quite come up with something, which caused him to pass the turn.
[/p][p]
Iiyanage didn’t perfom any actions and Demongeot did the same.
[/p][p]
Iiyanage [ns]ed [sabre tiger] and Demongeot discarded [veiler] to negate its effect. [sabre tiger] attacked directly, Iiyanage entered [mp] 2, he [fs]ed [striker] and then [synch]ed [catastor]. Demongeot found [tt] to deal with the Synchro Monster, though!
[/p][p]
[poa] marked the comeback for Demongeot! Iiyanage checked the Graveyard and let out a sigh when he realized that Demongeot had exactly 5 monsters. [reborn] followed, but Iiyanage found an answer in [bth].

[/p][p]
Iiyanage tried to muster up some defense, but his [rhino] was met with [bth].
[/p][p]
Demongeot quickly checked the Life Totals before he brought out [maxx] to end the game in spectacular fashion!
[/p][nbsp]

Dylan Demongeot is only 1 win away from earning an invite for the European Championship!

[nbsp][p]
Iiyanage wasted no time and declared that he would go first the second game. Both players checked their Side Decks to introduce some more cards that would work well against their respective opponent’s strategy and then we were all set for game 2.

[nbsp][p]
The British Duelist kicked things off with [sabre tiger], searching his Deck for another copy which he added to his hand. He Set 2 Spells or Traps and passed the turn.
[/p][p]
Demongeot had [kabaz], [saurus], [rai oh], [bth], [macro] and [prison]. He [ns]ed [saurus], but Iiyanage had [bth]. He then Set 2 back row cards and passed.
[/p][p]
Iiyanage saw an opening and invited the second [sabre tiger] to his party. [bth] was used, but Iiyanage Chained [lance], saving his monster from destruction! He used both monsters to Xyz Summon [zenmaines], but its attack ended in [prison]. He Set a Spell or Trap and ended.
[/p][p]
Play was back to Demongeot, who [ns]ed a [saurus] he just drew into. Iiyanage had [bom] to make sure he would hold onto his Life Points a little longer.

[nbsp][p]
[sabre tiger] attacked over the face-down [saurus] and Iiyanage ended.
[/p][p]
Demongeot attempted to [ns] [rai oh], but [warning] foiled that plan. He Set a third Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
Iiyanage’s [sabre tiger] attacked directly and in [mp] 2, [warwolf] was Summoned. It was met with [tt] and Demongeot also chained [macro]!
[/p][p]
The following turn, he [ns]ed [reaper] to attack directly. That cost Iiyanage his [hole]!
[/p][p]
[rush rhino] attacked over [reaper].
[/p][p]
Demongeot drew into [kabaz], which he Summoned. He attacked over [rhino] and [reaper] attacked directly again, which meant that Iiyanage would lose a second copy of the card in his hand.
[/p][p]
Nothing happened on Iiyanage’s following turn.
[/p][p]
Demongeot switched [reaper] to [def] and attacked with [kabaz].
[/p][p]
Iiyanage found [rhino] and it attacked over [kabaz].

[nbsp][p]
Demongeot couldn’t find a way to overcome [rush rhino] and he only Set [sangan].
[/p][p]
Iiyanage’s [rush rhino] attacked over [sangan], but before the attack concluded, Demongeot flipped [decree]. This allowed him to search his Deck for [tgu].
Iiyanage also Set a Monster before passing the turn. Demongeot activated [decree] during the End Phase to make sure he could unleash some big plays.
[/p][p]
[tgu] came down the following turn; this got Demongeot 2 Level 3 monsters to work with. He used [mst] to destroy [mst], before [synch]ing [leviair] (he thought long and hard if he should go for [zenmaines] instead). He detached one of the [tgu] copies and attacked over [rush rhino]. This left Iiyanage on 3200 Life Points (Demongeot had 4700 remaining).
Iiyanage searched his Deck for [striker] before entering his turn.
[/p][p]
He [ns]ed the monster, [fs]ed [warwolf] and used both to Xyz Summon [catastor]. He attacked with it over [leviair] and passed the turn with 3 face-down Spells or Traps.

[maestro] was Xyz Summoned, using [rabbit] and [saurus]. It attacked over [catastor].
[/p][p]
Iiyanage only Set a fourth Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
[maestro] took another direct hit.
[/p][p]
Iiyanage Set a monster and passed.
[/p][p]
Demongeot [ns]ed [saurus] and after [maestro] cleared the way, that was enough for him to win the game!
[/p][nbsp]

Dylan Demongeot is allowed to participate in the WCQ: European Championship!

[nbsp][p]
Both games eventually turned into a war of attrition with Demongeot coming out on top twice. This should give him lots of momentum for the European Championship tomorrow, so we’ll definitely see how he’s faring in the Main Event.
[/p][p]
Iiyanage proved to be a good sport, congratulating his opponent and wishing him all the best for the following two days. He wanted to give a shout-out to his friends Richard Harmer and Alex Hancox who were rooting for him from home since they couldn’t make the trip!
