17.12.2011 | 16:46 |

[p]If you thought it wouldn’t be worthwhile to attend YCS Brighton, you’ve been far from the truth. Take a look at all of these cool prizes and learn about the various public events!
[/p][p]
The new prize card in town is [blood mefist]. If you didn’t get a chance to take a closer look earlier, check it out now:

How can you not get excited about this card?!

How can you not get excited about this card?!

[nbsp][p]
It can turn the tides in a hard fought Duel, even when your opponent found a way to stop you from attacking him. So maybe he would be a viable out against the Watt archetype that we saw in our Round 1 Feature Match?
[/p][p]
There are 2 ways to get your hands on a copy of the Synchro Monster. Either you’re among the Top 3 players in the Main event (the winner gets the only Ultra Rare version of the card) or you win one of the Public Events Playoffs. Don’t be surprised if the name doesn’t ring a bell; these events have never been held at an European YCS before, so let’s give you a quick rundown.
[/p][p]
Basically, there are 2 Public Events Playoffs. To qualify for the Public Events Top Playoff, you need to be among the most successful players that enrolled in public events this weekend. Whenever you enroll in an event, you’ll be awarded 1 point. If you go on and win the event, you’ll be awarded additional points (depending on the kind of public event you played in). The 4 players with the most points will battle it out on Sunday!
[/p][p]
The other Public Event Playoff will be made up of randomly chosen players that participated in the public events over the course of the weekend. I’m rather curious to find out who’ll make it to this event; literally anything can happen!

[nbsp][p]
[blood mefist] isn’t the only prize that will be handed over to the winner. He’ll also walk away with a brand new Notebook and he’ll win a travel and accomodation package for next year’s World Championship Qualifier: European Championship!
[/p][p]
Apart from the [blood mefist] Super Rare prize card, the finalist will also win an 32 GB iPad 2! How cool is that?!
[/p][p]
Both 3rd and 4th placed finishers will walk away with a 32 GB iPod Touch (however, you do want to come in 3rd as you’ll get the last copy of [blood mefist] that’s being handed out to players in the main event)!
[/p][p]
The rest of the players that make up the top 8 will win a DSi XL with Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2011 so they can continue to work on their dueling skills and maybe win the title of National Videogame Champion next year. Oh, and then there’s boosters. Lots of them, in fact! 9th – 16th place finishers will receive a full box of Photon Shockwave!

[nbsp][p]
Alright, the prizes in the main event are more than awesome. And you can win big by doing well in the public events as well. Doesn’t sound too bad, but what public events are we offering, you may ask? Great question, let’s give you an overview of those as well!
[/p]

  • Duelist League
    [/p][p]
2012 will be the best year for younger Duelists in Yu-Gi-Oh! history. With the addition of a Dragon Duel World Championship for young and gifted players, it pays out to hone your skills in the public events more than ever!
    [/p]
  • Pegasus Challenge “Double Deck”
    [/p][p]
In the Pegasus Challenge, you’re always playing according to new and exciting rules. In this weekend’s format, your deck needs to feature at least 80 cards, so you should come prepared and bring something to the table that works well with twice the regular deck size.
    [/p]
  • Win-a-mat
    [/p][p]
It doesn’t get much easier than that: Sign up, win 3 Duels, walk away with a brand new gamemat! The Win-a-mat are one of the most popular events as players love to collect the missing gamemats for their personal collections.
    [/p][nbsp]

One of the many playmats that could be won this weekend!

  • Attack of the Giant Card!
    [/p][p]
One of the highlights of our public events are certainly the Attack of the Giant Card events that will take place tomorrow. Winners can pick between [tour], [rabbit] and [17]! That’s probably the most exciting choice ever; I mean, who wouldn’t want to have a giant [rabbit] standing in their room?!
    [/p]
  • WCQ Regionals
    [/p][p]
If you didn’t do too well in the main event, you can always try to earn your spot in next year’s World Championship Qualifier: European Championship. These Regionals are the perfect opportunity to win an invite!
    [/p]
  • Anniversary YCS Trial
    [/p][p]
This is without question the most exciting public event of the weekend! The winner will not only be able to attend one of the upcoming European Championships with travel and accomodation paid for by Konami, he’ll win a trip to YCS Long Beach!!! The 100th YCS is set to excite Duelists with amazing prizes and draw the attention of players from all over the world. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to secure your spot in what might be the biggest YCS in Yu-Gi-Oh! history!

This concludes our overview of the prizes and public events. No matter what you love the most about Yu-Gi-Oh! – simply sitting down for a quick Duel, trading some of your cards for cards that you’re still missing in your collection or competing for amazing prizes in one of the grandest stages, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series has it all!
[/p][p]
With YCS Leipzig already announced and YCS Long Beach the month after, 2012 is going to be yet another exciting year for Duelists from all over the world!
