Public Events Update
[p]It’s been a while since we last took at look at the public events. Don’t get the wrong idea, there are a number of events that take place just now! Let’s check out what’s been going on…
Fortunately the judges taking care of our Dragon Duel Event today were able to speak a number of languages. You can’t really expect 11 year old players from the various European countries to have a better understanding of the English language, so one of the extra challenges for our judges are translations.
The Deck spread in the event seems to be a lot higher when compared to the main event. That’s also understandable, after all, most of the youngsters prefer playing with their favorite Decks (which aren’t always necessarily the Decks that are widely considered to be the strongest Decks in the environment).
Round 4 in the YCS Trial was underway while the main event was about to proceed with the round of the last 32. 117 players signed up and all of them were eager to win the trip to YCS Long Beach – probably the most exciting prize we’ve ever given out at a public event.
One thing the judges immediately noticed were the Deck choices of many of the participants. You saw quite a couple of Burner Decks as well as other archtypes that rarely made an appearance in the Main Event.
The last Public Events that are underway are the Win-a-mat events. We’ve hit the 40 mark in the meantime, so quite a couple of gamemats have changed owners over the course of the weekend!
That’s still not all, though! We’ll also be holding the Public Event Playoffs at roughly the same time the grand final will take place! So this event is far from being over!
