QQ: Favorite Decks 2011 / Breakout Decks 2012

18.12.2011 | 11:22 |

[p]2011 saw a couple of Decks making an impression on the tournament scene. For quite a while, the Six Samurai dominated tournaments thanks to the addition of their Legendary companions. We also saw the X-Sabers take down large events like YCS Paris and lots of Duelists fail to weed out the threat that is the Plant Synchro Deck. We asked players about their favorite Decks during the past year and which Decks they were expecting to do well in 2012…

[p]What were your favorite Decks in the past year?
[/p][p]
Ping: “X-Sabers! And Worms were fun, too. You could set 5 in your first turn and get 2 free cards! That was amazing!”[br]
Warren: “Plant Synchro! You have a lot of options and can really dictate the pace of the game.”[br]
Harry: “Zombies! I think the Deck’s lots of fun to play!”[br]
Jamie: “Gravekeepers! I think people are underestimating them and they are simply awesome!”
[/p][p]
Which Decks do you expect to do well next year?
[/p][p]
Ping: “I think that [tour] and Tengu Plant will continue to play a major role in the bigger tournaments. So I don’t really expect a format change anytime soon.”[br]
Warren: “I think that Wind-Ups can pull off some cool tricks. Maybe it’ll be their year?!”[br]
Harry: “Wind-Ups and Inzectors. They are about to keep up with the top Decks soon in my opinion.”
Jamie: “Wind-Ups and Inzectors. They got a couple of effects to get rid of opposing cards and control the game!”

[/p][p]
Anton: “Plant Synchro! I’m playing it myself as it’s quite flexible and it can pull off a number of combos!”[br]
Philipp: “I agree with Anton. You could draw infinite cards with it and there was always so much going on during your turns!”[br]
Marvin: “Lightlords and Six Samurai. Lightlords are my favorite Deck as I won my first bigger event with them. They can give you a headache, but they can also be lots of fun. Six Samurai is extremely consistent and a nice counterpart to Lightlords.”[br]
Robert: “Gemini Spark. Before the last list of forbidden and limited cards, you could play 2 [honest] in it and that made the Deck quite competitive!”
[/p][p]
Which Decks do you expect to do well next year?
[/p][p]
Marvin: “Dino Rabbit all the way! It can answer all the opposing strategies, it can adapt to changing metagames easily and [rabbit] is rather cute!”[br]
Anton: “If [rabbit] won’t get limited, I think it’s a major player in the upcoming year.”[br]
Philipp: “I’m 100% sure that Dino Rabbit Decks will dominate the next format!”[br]
Robert: “Dark World! I guess that Dino Rabbit will get weaked by the next list of forbidden and limited cards and I think it will then be the time for the army of darkness!”
[p]Which Decks did you enjoy playing the most the past year?
[/p][p]
Mirco: “Infernities – the one thing I love the most about Yu-Gi-Oh! is the fact that many cards can turn a Duel upside down. With this Deck, you constantly feel the excitement as you often have to rely on your top cards!”[br]
Nicolo: “KMP! It runs a lot of Synchro Monsters that no other Decks wants to play, but they can pull off great stuff in this Deck!”
[/p][p]
And which Decks to you expect to make a strong showing in the new year?
[/p][p]
Mirco: “Inzectors – they can easily blow out opponents on their very first turn!”[br]
Nicolo: “Jurracs or Ninjas. These Deck features many effects that can negate your opponent’s cards, so they can only watch you dictate the pace of the Duel!”
[p]What were your favorite Decks in the past year?
[/p][p]
Oliver: “Six Samurai! It’s fast; it could go off as early as turn 1!”[br]
Callum: “Dark World! It just looked so cool and I think they are quite fun to play with!”[br]
Tomaz: “Anti Meta! I enjoyed playing it a lot and it felt a lot different in the past format. I also appreciated the fact that it gained some popularity!”[br]
George: “Gravekeepers! They can easily control the game!”
[/p][p]Which Deck do you expect to come out strong 2012?
[/p][p]
Oliver: “Wind-Ups! And maybe Ninjas if they get the right support. Wind-Ups got [zenmaines] and they can control the Duel. Ninjas are quite the opposite as they can easily swarm the field!”[br]
Callum: “Plants! This Deck features way too many good cards and I don’t expect it to do worse than it did in the recent formats anytime soon!”[br]
Tomaz: “Inzectors! They don’t have the limitations that other Decks have to deal with and they can easily draw into additional cards!”[br]
George: “Depending on the list of forbidden and limited cards, I think Rabbit will continue to dominate the format! Even if Rabbit goes to 2, they simply get more space to add in cards that work well against the popular strategies like [rai oh].”
