QQ: What’s your favorite new archetype?

[p]Rise and shine! I tried to get a hold of some players before we would advance to the round of the final 32 to ask them about their favorite new archetype. After all, Return of the Duelist and Abyss Rising introduced quite a few new decks to the game.

Luke: Mermails, they are pretty good. They seem reasonably consistent for this format (I don’t think any particular deck is extremely consistent at the moment, but they are definitely one of the better ones).

What’s the sleeper of the format?
[/p]
[p]
Luke: I think Prophecy could be the sleeper. I heard someone was doing pretty well with them yesterday. Tech Genus might also be good, but I couldn’t make it work, at least not against the Side Decks of better players. Once players rely on less [mst][s], things might change. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Marcello: Mermails, they work well with the last Structure Deck. They have some powerful combos!
[br]Marco: I agree with Marcello.
[br]Claudio: I like the Elemental Lords. They allow for some new deck building options and they remind me of some of the forbidden cards, like Ring of Destruction.
[br]Alessio: I really like the Spellbook archetype. I think, with a lot of testing, the deck can do powerful things.
[br]Rolando: I gotta give it to the Mermails, they seem to be the strongest out of the bunch of new decks.
[/p]
[nbsp][p]
Which deck could make it to the higher tables as well?
[p]
[p]
Claudio: I think the upcoming Fire Structure Deck will introduce us to some brand new decks! It seems like few people think of them as viable contenders at the moment and I disagree.
[br]Alessio: Flamvell is a cool strategy.
[br]Rolando: I agree with Claudio and Alessio. I think with Rekindling, the Fire decks will be able to go all the way!
[br]Marcello and Marco: If the Spellbook archetype finds a way to work around [16] and [rai oh], it will be a great deck. Other than that, we also think that Fire monsters are pretty strong.

James: Atlantians! I like the way they trigger. They all seem pretty small, but they work really well together!
[/p][p]
Ping: Madolche! They make me hungry while I look at them and they can generate card advantage out of nowhere. If you give your opponent a real beating, you can always invite them out for cake later and that makes it alright!

What is the sleeper deck of the format?
[/p]
[p]
Ping: I think that Stone decks could do really well. Something with [pachy] and a lot of back rows that help you protect it!
[/p][p]
James: I think Madolche could do well, if people would start getting behind it more.

What is your favorite new archetype?
[/p]
[p]
Francesco: I like the Mermails. It’s the best deck out of the newer ones!
[br]Stefano: Madolche! The monsters are cute and pretty, but they can still unleash some great combos. Also, I think that a lot of female Duelists might quite like them.
[br]Giovanni: I also like the Mermails, but they are a little hard to get. That’s why I prefer Dragons for the time being.
[/p]
[nbsp][p]
Which deck are people overlookig at the moment?
[/p]
[p]
Francesco: Geargia and Gadgets are the decks to beat in Japan. Considering that, they haven’t made too much of a showing over here.
[br]Giovanni: Hieratics and Chaos Dragons. People are still aware of the Chaos Dragons, but no one thinks of the Hieratics. Oh, and the Fire monsters that will be released in the upcoming expansions will also make an impact!
[br]Stefano: Firefist with Garuba. Other than that, I’m also a fan of the Agents, but I think they are on most people’s radar by now.
[/p]
[nbsp][p]
It seems like the Fire monsters are already on the mind of a number of Duelists, even though they haven’t been released yet. So you should definitely try to get your hands on them early before everybody knows about their power!
