Quarter Finals: Ping Xiao (Dino Rabbit) vs. Adrien Dudeck (Dino Rabbit)

[p]Only 3 more rounds until we know who’s going to win YCS Brighton. We invited Ping Xiao and Adrien Dudeck to our Feature Match table as they are the only 2 remaining players in the tournament that we didn’t put the spotlight on so far. Xiao is a British Duelist from Bristol running Dino Rabbit just like Adrien Dudeck from St. Etienne in France. This match will show us who will gain the upper hand in a match with both players commanding similar Decks.

Dudeck won the die roll and opted to go first. This could prove crucial in this very special match!

His opening hand featured [rabbit] which he quickly [ns]ed to the field. He used its effect to bring out 2 [kabaz] and those were used to Xyz Summon [laggia]. “Nice opening!”, Xiao admitted. 3 face-down Spells or Traps and it was Xiao’s turn for the first time in this match.

He activated [sarco] and after Dudeck gave him the go, he wondered: “2 turns… do I even HAVE 2 turns?!” He set a Monster and 3 cards to his back row and passed.

[guaiba] was [ns]ed on Dudeck’s following turn, but Xiao found [warning] in his back row. That worked.

[laggia] was sent into [sangan] and the little fiend allowed Xiao to search his Deck for [mole]. Dudeck was nonplussed, though, and simply ended his turn.

Xiao had to think about Dudeck’s possible answers. He [ns]ed [rabbit] and Dudeck flipped [warning]. Xiao smiled and passed.

Once again it was up to Dudeck to apply the pressure. He [ns]ed [saurus] and attacked with it directly. He passed without attacking with [laggia], possible in fear of [prison].

Xiao activated [hole] with the words: “Don’t have [road]!” [laggia]'[s] effect was used and Xiao rejoiced. He followed the play up with [rabbit], used it to bring out [kabaz] and this got him a [laggia] of his own. He declared an attack in [saurus], but [prison] from Dudeck was used in response! The Xyz Materials were detached and the attack went through. Play was back to Dudeck.

[kabaz] came down and he wanted to trade the Xyz monsters. [laggia]'[s] attack ended in [prison], however, causing a cheer from the crowd!

Xiao was suddenly back in the game. He used [mst] to destroy , then he [ns]ed [saurus] and he attacked with [laggia] over his opponent’s Normal Monster. An attack with [saurus] followed, which left Dudeck with 2900 Life Points. During the End Phase, [mst] from Dudeck got rid of Xiao’s [sj]! “Nice!”, the British Duelist admitted.

Another [rabbit] followed on Dudeck’s next turn. He [ss]ed 2 copies of [saurus] and Xyz Summoned [utopia]. He attacked over [laggia] and that left Xiao with 4000 Life Points. Without making any more plays, Dudeck passed.

Xiao now brought out [utopia]. He attacked [utopia], but its effect was used and 1 of the Materials was detached. Back to Dudeck.

[rai oh] attacked [mole] and both monsters were returned to their respective owner’s hands. [utopia] attacked over [saurus].

Xiao simply used [mole] to get rid of yet another Xyz Material.

Dudeck brought out [rai oh] once more and [utopia] dealt another 2500 damage. Xiao was left with only 900 Life Points. Dudeck set a Spell or Trap and passed.

This turn would possibly decide the outcome of the Duel! Xiao [ns]ed [mole] and declared an attack into [utopia]. The Xyz Monster destroyed itself with its effect. Xiao attacked directly and passed.

[rai oh] came down and attacked into [mole]. Both monsters returned to the hands. Dudeck set a Spell or Trap.

[mole] was summoned, but [tt] was supposed to get rid of it once and for all. However, [lance] was chained to make sure it would stay on the field! Direct attack for 100 and back to Dudeck!

Xiao [ns]ed [mole] and attacked directly. He set a Spell or Trap. It was destroyed by [mst] in the End Phase.

Dudeck bounced both monsters after summoning [rai oh]. He set a Spell or Trap, which left him with 2 cards on the field.

After checking the [grave], Xiao [ns]ed [mole]. He attacked directly, which left Dudeck with 100 Life Points as well! This was close!

Dudeck drew, thought for a few seconds and shuffled up. There was nothing he could do to get rid of [mole] that wiped out more than a third of his Life Points!

With 17 minutes remaining on the clock, Dudeck kicked things off in the second Duel. [rabbit] was [ns]ed and its effect was used to bring out 2 copies of [kabaz]. You guessed what would come next, didn’t you? A split second later, [laggia] hit the field, 2 cards were set and it was up to Xiao.

[reaper] seemed like a strong way to keep up the pressure for Dudeck. [warning] was flipped and Dudeck let it go through. He sent [laggia] into [reaper], set a Spell or Trap and passed.

He used its effect to bring back [rabbit], which was then also Tributed to bring out [saurus]. [bth] was chained, however, Dudeck chained [road]! That wasn’t the end of it, though, as Xiao chained [mst] to destroy his own [bth]. Dudeck got himself another [laggia] and passed his turn.

Xiao had [sangan], however, Dudeck was able to stop its attack. Xiao knew it was over right then.

Only 10 minutes were remaining on the clock after both players were done Side Decking. This time it would be Ping Xiao to go first after having to fight an uphill battle twice.

[dustshoot] revealed [hole], [sangan], [maxx], [saurus] and [warning], because Dudeck activated [mst] in response to get rid of [lance]. [sangan] was sent back to the Deck of the French Duelist. [hole] was used to get rid of [rai oh], then [saurus] was [ns]ed and Dudeck opted to not attack.

[mst] destroyed [warning], then [tour] came down for Xiao. [maxx] was discarded in response to Xiao activating the effect. He found [sangan] and Xyz Summoned [17]. After detaching one material, it attacked over [saurus].

With some new cards in his hand, Dudeck brought out [tour] and used the effect to [ss] [sangan]. Both monsters were used to Xyz Summon [zenmaines]. It attacked into [17], then [reborn] was used on [rai oh] and that concluded Dudeck’s turn.

Xiao summoned [saurus] and he hoped that Dudeck didn’t have [gorz]. The attack concluded and… nothing happend! Xiao was still in the game. He set a Spell or Trap and passed.

Dudeck tried to summon a [saurus] of his own, which worked, but [bth] made short use of it. Back to Xiao.

Xiao was sure this would be a huge risk, but he used [reborn] to bring back [saurus]. He declared an attack with the first one. An attack with the second [saurus] followed. In [mp] 2, both monsters were used to Xyz Summon [laggia]!

Dudeck [ns]ed [rabbit] and Xiao detached his materials in response. Dudeck extended his hand. Xiao had huge troubles realizing that he just won the game and would advance to the Top 4!
