R5 Feature Match: Klevis Haskurti (Shaddoll) vs Alpay Engin (Shaddoll Artifact)

06.09.2014 | 17:39 |

Welcome to Round five where we’ve got the UK’s Klevis Haskurti taking on Alpay Engin. Haskurti is playing Shaddolls with a tech [poly] to boot. Engin, who needs no introduction but always seems to get one anyway, has been one of Europe’s most successful Duelists since winning YCS Bochum. Both Duelists are on 2-1-1 records so a loss here would cripple the hopes of making the top 32 tomorrow.

Haskurti started things off with [allure] to draw two and Banish [shd drag]. [shd fus] pitched [shd squa] and [shd hedg] to Fusion Summon [shd winda] and search a [shd drag] and send a [shd falco] to the Graveyard which returned itself. Winda was tributed for a set monster and returned [shd fus] to the hand. Haskurti passed.

Engin simply set two [st].

[shd beast] was flipped and discarded [shd drag] which destroyed an [a sanc] [ss]ing [a mora] which destroyed Beast but did little to Falco which returned. [upstart] got the Brit a card while he mulled over what Deck Engin was using. He decided to [mst] Engin’s set which turned out to be a second [a mora]. “Oh you drew really bad and I just rewarded you for it. That sucks.”

What started as a bad hand for Engin quickly turned in to a decent field!

[soul charge] returned [shd winda], [shd beast], [shd hedg] and [shd squa]. He paid 4000 for the privilege and [xyz]ed [61]. A second [shd fus] got another [shd winda]. Effects followed.

Fusion Monsters...dem old-school feels.

[nbsp]
[61] detached a [shd winda] to get back Fusion and destroy an [a mora]. A set Monster and backrow concluded his turn – not bad for the second turn!

“Go ahead, beat me” declared Haskurti.

Engin started with [mst] on the set [shd fus], before activating one of his own sending [felis] and [shd beast] from the Deck to Fusion Summon [shd construct], pitching [shd squa] – cumulatively drawing a card and sending a [shd hedg] to the Graveyard. Construct attacked over Winda and in [mp2] he [synch]ed [brd] to destroy the field (although Falco returned).

Falco was flipped and returned Beast to the field. His Normal Summon was [shd squa] and in the Battle Phase [shd core] blocked attacked. Haskurti lost his [shd fus] to [mst] in the End Phase and Engin flipped his set [a sanc] to [ss] [a mora] and after hefty debating destroyed the [shd squa] which sent [shd hedg] and add [shd falco].

It was for naught as Engin had Fusion to bring out [shd construct] and [ced] along with his own Falco to do enough damage to take the game!

[h2]Alpay Engin wins game one![/h2]

“Okay, now I know what you’re playing let’s see what we can do about it” declared Haskurti before siding with what seemed like great purpose. He would let Engin go first for game two.

Three set backrow were all he had.

Haskurti had [upstart] and three set as well as a Monster.

[nbsp]
Engin Summoned [shd squa] and wanted to attack but [superpoly] got [shd winda] on the field amd a [shd drag] to Haskurti’s hand while Engin took set Falco. In the End Phase [mst] took out a freshly set [a sanc] which destroyed another [mst] Chained on a [dd ground].

Haskurti tributed Winda for [raiza] and sent [shd falco] to the top before atacking. Engin drew his Falco and set it before passing with two backrow. Haskurti Summoned Dragon and attacked over Falco with Raiza before attacking the newly set Squamata with Dragon. It was hit with [ced] and Haskurti passed.

[shd squa] was flipped to destroy [raiza] and tributed for [a mora] which attacked.

Haskurti discarded [thunder dragon] to search two more before setting a monster.

Engin attacked it – a Falco, and Haskurti got a set Beast back. In [mp2] Engin tributed for a set monster and set a backrow – his last card in hand.

Haskurti flipped his Beast and drew two, discarding [shd squa] and sending [shd falco] which set itself from the Graveyard. Falco was tributed for Raiza which targetted the Monster and Engin gathered up his cards to go to a third game.

[h2]Klevis Haskurti pulls back the second game and we go to a decider![/h2]

Engin allowed Haskurti to go first for the last game and Summoned [shd drag] and set a backrow.

[allure] from Engin Banished [shd falco] and he set a card to each zone.

Dragon attacked and Engin used [mst] to take out [mst] before [shd squa] took out Dragon. Haskurti set a Monster.

Engin set four to the backrow and a Monster.

Lyla wasn't too successful

[nbsp]
[lyla] was Summoned and destroy a set [defusion]. Falco was flipped and met with [bts]. Lyla sent some cards to the Graveyard in the End Phase.

Engin flipped his Falco and set a [shd squa]. It attacked over Lyla and in the Battle Phase [shd core] was flipped and attacked over Falco.

[soul charge] from Haskurti targetted Lyla, Dragon and Falco and resolved. Lyla targetted a Chained [ced] which returned [shd drag] to the hand. Falco was tributed for a set Monster and three cards, including a [thunder dragon], were sent from the Deck to the Graveyard in the End Phase.

Engin ripped a [mathe] from the top of his Deck and rejoiced as he Summoned it and sent a [shd hedg] getting a [shd beast]. Flipping [shd squa] allowed him to destroy the set Beast and the following attacks were enough to end the match!
[h2]Alpay Engin continues with a chance of making the top 32![/h2]
