R7 Feature Match: Luigi Alici (Shaddoll Dragon) vs Carl Manigat (Shaddoll Dragon)

It’s the final round of the day and both of these Duelists are on the bubble so a loss here cuts them out of contention to win the event. Alici is from near Venice in Italy and Manigat has flown all the way from New York. It’s a Shaddoll/Dragon mirror match but neither player knew it yet! Let’s see who will progress in the tournament.

Alici won the roll and started things off by passing his first turn.

Manigat studied his hand before deciding to set a [st] and pass back.

Alici flicked the cards in his hand and contemplated his options. It seemed like both players wanted the other to move first. [mathe] was Summoned and sent [wyvern] to the Graveyard, Banishing [dad]. He Summoned [collapserpent] and took [dad] to his hand. Attacks were made and in the End Phase [ssg] was flipped to send [shd squa] followed by [shd falco] which returned to the field.

[allure] Banished [shd hedg] and [shd falco] got back [shd squa]. [shd fus] got [shd construct] by using the Squamata and an in-hand [felis]. [shd beast] and another Hedgehog made their way to the Graveyard – followed by a [shd drag] to the hand. With three Dark monsters in the Graveyard, Manigat’s [dad] was next followed by his own [collapserpent]. [goyo] was [synch]ed and with the effect of [dad] it was all too much for the Italian!

In the decider, Manigat opted to go second. Alici set a Monster and a backrow before passing.

Manigat used [shd fus] to pitch [shd squa] and [shd falco], sending a [shd drag] and prompting a [ced] from Alici to send [shd winda] back. He ended up with a set [shd falco] and set a [st] before allowing play back to the Italian.

Alici studied his hand for a fair while deciding on which play to make. He finally flipped his set [shd hedg] and searched [shd fus]. [mind control] was countered with [ssg] which sent [shd beast] to the Graveyard and flipped his [shd falco] allowing him to return [shd drag] before losing control of the Falco.

Both monsters were used to [synch] [armades] which attacked over the Dragon. In [mp2] [shd fus] used Armades and Falco to Fusion Summon [shd construct] and Falco set itself. Construct sent [shd squa] and then [shd beast]. A Light and Dark Monster were Banished for [bls] which Banished his own Construct before passing.

Manigat used [night beam] on a [burst rebirth] and set two. In the End Phase a second [burst rebirth] was flipped!

Alici was in total control. He Summoned his drawn card, [mathe] and sent Squamata followed by Hedgehog and took Dragon to the hand. It was discarded after his flipped his Beast and destroyed a set [poly]. Falco was flipped and then used with Beast to [synch] [arcanite]. It destroyed a set [ssg] which sent [shd beast] to the Graveyard and got Manigat a card. In the Battle Phase, attacks from Alici’s Monsters weren’t quite enough for game but a [superpoly] allowed him to get the extra attack on the field to seal the deal!
