Bernard went first with [myrmeleo] and he searched [bth]. He then added 3 back row cards before passing.

Cacciapuoti on the other hand had a set monster and 4 more back row cards – this might turn out to be a slow game.

That changed when [mind] claimed control of [i hand], which Bernard immediately [fs]ed. He used both of his monsters to [ss] [101], it attacked directly, but [fiendish] stopped it.

The Belgian National Champion added a fourth back row card and Cacciapuoti
activated [g gear] at the end of the turn, searching his Deck for [geargiano] and [g mk2]. [mst], still in the End Phase, destroyed [a beag], which did not get [ss]ed for that reason.

The following turn, Cacciapuoti overlaid for [101] and he declared an attack. [a sanc] got activated and this got Bernard [a mora]. He activated its effect, but [fiendish] stopped it from resolving. Bernard’s copy of [101] got destroyed while Cacciapuoti’s copy detached a Material. The Italian added a back row card.

Bernard tried to fight back with [i hand] and it attacked into the stronger [101]. This cost Cacciapuoti a set [soul charge], while Bernard [ss]ed [f hand]. The Belgian passed without performing any more actions.

[101] attacked over [f hand] and it detached so it would stay on the field. Cacciapuoti ended.

Bernard found another [i hand]. It attacked into the Xyz Monster; that cost Cacciapuoti his [fiendish] that stopped [a mora], [f hand] took down itself and [101] with its effect and [a mora] attacked directly. 5600 Life Points remaining for Bernard and after [i hand] connected, 4500 Life Points remaining for Cacciapuoti.

Cacciapuoti checked the contents of his Graveyard; he activated [hole], which cost him his own copy of [horn] thanks to [i hand]. He then activated [soul charge], returning [i hand], [geargiano] and [g mk2] to the field, all in face-up [def]. Next, he overlaid for [zenmaines] and that concluded the turn.

[zenmaines] had brought the game to a halt; Bernard passed without performing any actions.

Cacciapuoti switched [i hand] to [atk] and he attacked into [f hand]. This cost Bernard a set [tt]. [f hand] got [ss]ed and it traded with Bernard’s copy. The effect of Bernard’s copy didn’t get activated. [g accel] came down in [mp] 2, but [bth] banished it.

Bernard only set a back row card.

[zenmaines] now switched to [atk] and it made it 4100 LP for Bernard.

[tt dio] marked Bernard’s comeback; he went for [82] and Cacciapuoti immediately shuffled up.

“I started with 3 Artifacts”, the Belgian complained. Apparently, he did mind drawing into that many copies in this particular match-up. He was a little surprised to see the Hands in Cacciapuoti’s Deck, but they seemed to be working just as fine in Geargia.

The Italian then started with a set monster and 2 back row cards.

Once again, Bernard had [myrmeleo] and he went searching for [tthn]. He set 3 back row cards before ending. [g gear] got activated and this got Cacciapuoti [g mk2] and [geargiano] – the same procedure as every tournament.

The following turn, he went for [ggx], but [horn] stopped the Machine dead in its tracks. [i hand] got [fs]ed, [mind] followed, both monsters were overlaid to [xyz] [101] and it attacked directly. Cacciapuoti ended with a face-down [st].

Bernard set a card to each zone. [mst] destroyed [a sanc], so [101] had to detach 1 material to remain on the field.

[noc] took out [i hand]! A strong card that was introduced to the match from Cacciapuoti’s Side Deck in between rounds! Bernard let out a sigh. [101] attacked, Cacciapuoti added a set monster and he ended.

[f hand] attacked into [101] and this cost Cacciapuoti his set [i hand]. We now had to call over the judges since Bernard claimed that Cacciapuoti’s [i hand] would miss its timing. An appeal followed, with the Head Judge upholding Bernard’s claim. [i hand] attacked into [101], [horn] got destroyed, [f hand] got [ss]ed in face-up [def] and Bernard passed.

[101] attacked over [f hand]. [a igni] took out the [warning] that Cacciapuoti had set and Bernard set [a mora].
The following turn, he found [tt dio] and it returned [myrmeleo] back to the field. [50] hit play, it got rid of [101].

[g mk2] was Cacciapuoti’s comeback. This allowed him to [ss] [30], but [bth] banished it.

Bernard now used [ccd]. Cacciapuoti only added a back row card.

[50] made it 4900 LP for the Italian.

Cacciapuoti only set a monster.

[call] was supposed to return [myrmeleo], but [mst] stopped it. [mind] then claimed control of [g armor] and Bernard went for an Xyz Summon of [emeral]. [fiendish] allowed Cacciapuoti to see another turn. [xyzu] then followed after the attack of [50] and that meant [ddknight].

[h2]Jean-Lou Bernard overcomes Giuseppe Cacciapuoti![/h2]

What a great finish from Jean-Lou Bernard who wrapped things up in spectacular fashion!

Still, even minutes later, Cacciapuoti was openly showing his frustration with the judges’ decision. He didn’t have a reason to, however, since the Head Judge’s ruling was perfectly fine. Hopefully, he could find the focus to push through in the next round and advance to the knock out portion of the event!
