Round 2: Christopher Reyes (Inzektor) vs Andrea Scaccia (Evilswarm)
Welcome to the second round of [ec13]. This round we decided to see how the Norwegian National Champion, Christopher Reyes, is getting on. He’s facing off against Italy’s Andrea Scaccia, who also qualified at his WCQ: National Championship by finishing in the top 32. Reyes chose to bring his Inzektor Deck to the main event this year while Scaccia bought Evilswarm.
After formalities were exchanged and die were rolled, Reyes started us off. He started with [pod] revealing another [pod], [mst] and [fchain]. He summoned [i pede] and used it’s effect to attach [i bug], sending it to the graveyard to make Centipede level 4. [i fly] was added to his hand and he set a backrow before passing.
Scaccia opened with [allure], banishing [ev mand]. He [ns]ed [ev helio] and attacked over the Centipede, Reyes being reminded that he couldn’t use his Fiendish due to the normal status of Heliotrope. [lockdown] and a [st] finished his turn.
[storm] came down from Reyes, clearing out [safe zone] and the Lockdown, before he [ns]ed Dragonfly. [foolish] dumped [i hornet] and then [dad] was bought in to the fray! Dragonfly used it’s effect to equip Hornet from the grave, before sending it to destroy Heliotrope. Scaccia chained [maxx] to draw a card as a Centipede was [ss]ed from the Deck, and it attached Hornet before everything attacked.
Scaccia drew to four in hand and rested his chin on his hands, thinking thoroughly about his plays. He flicked through his Extra Deck, considering what the best card would be to swing the current gamestate in his favour. He settled on [ns]ing [rabbit], banishing it to introduce a party of Heliotrope to his side of the field. Three’s a crowd, so he [xyz]ed [ev baha], taking control of [dad] by discarding a Mandragora. The effect of Dark Armed destroyed Centipede, allowing Reyes to re-add Dragonfly to his hand and the following attacks left him on 2500. Two [st]s passed play back to Reyes.
Dragonfly was quickly [ns]ed, attaching Hornet from the graveyard. Hornet’s effect destroyed Scaccia’s set [eev] and Summoned a [i hop] from the Deck. Hopper attached Hornet which destroyed Dark Armed Dragon, and a backrow was the end of Reyes’ turn.
Bahamut attacked over Dragonfly, and Scaccia set a monster.
LP 1150 – 2100
[mst] was activated by Reyes but hit a chained [i pand] – Reyes had the answer though and chained [ced] on Bahamut! As soon as he summoned a Centipede Scaccia knew it was over and went diving in to his Side Deck.

Scaccia got us underway quickly in game two with [rota] for [ev castor], bringing out Heliotrope. Reyes activated [maxx] so Scaccia chose not to [ss] and instead activated [lockdown], setting another backrow before passing.
Reyes decided the best play was [ccd], matching Scaccia’s 2 [st]s before using Cardcar’s effect and ending.
Attacks from Castor and Heliotrope left Reyes on 4300, before a [mp2] [ophion] hit the field. Two more [st]s ended his turn, leaving one in hand. In the [ep], [i pand] was blasted away with [mst].
Reyes took total control of the game by flipping his set [storm]! Scaccia chained [eev] on traps but none of Reyes’ five cards in hand were the required type! He played [pod] for another Duality before passing.
[reborn] was Scaccia’s answer. [ophion] returned and attacked, and Scaccia set his last card in hand.
[mst] struck [ced], leaving Scaccia with just the Ophion. He played Duality, taking [i fly], and considered his options. He had strong control of the game but not many LP to play with – only 1750. He set a monster and passed.
Scaccia summoned Mandragora and Reyes shuffled up for game three! He was banking on Scaccia not drawing a Monster so that he could use his combos on the next turn.
[h2]Scaccia fights back despite losing out to a big Heavy Storm play and takes us to a third game![/h2]
Reyes opened with two set [st]. Scaccia rolled a dice to see which one he would hit with [mst] and it ended up being a [ced]. [rabbit] was next, bringing two Heliotrope out. Both succeeded in attacking before Ophion hit the field in [mp2], searching an [i pand] with it’s effect. Scaccia set two and activated [lockdown] before passing.
[mst] from Reyes hit the Deck Lockdown, and he [ns]ed Dragonfly, attaching a Hopper from the hand. He sent it to the graveyard to [ss] [i bug]. [insect imitation] was next, [ss]ing [i pede], which attached Ladybug and spun it to make the Centipede level four. Dragonfly attacked directly and Reyes set two, leaving one in hand.
Scaccia used Ophion’s effect, searching another Pandemic. He summoned [ev kery] but it was lost to [sw]. [hole] followed, with Pandemic saving Ophion from sudden doom. The following attack would have ended the game if not for [coth] from Reyes, using Centipede to shield his LP.
It was all over on Scaccia’s following turn, as the set Monster and backrow weren’t enough to stop a Kerykeion from reviving a Heliotrope and hitting the field. As Scaccia moved in to the Battle Phase he knew it was over, and offered the handshake!
Both Duelists congratulated each other on a match well played and wished each other luck for future rounds.
