Round 2: Mirco Engel (Fire Fist) vs. Marcel Geratz (Dino Rabbit)

[p]Round 2 sees Mirco Engel (from Kiel, Germany) facing off against Marcel Geratz (Duisburg, also Germany). Engel is using Fire Fist today and burned through his first round opponent to take his first win of the day. He’ll be hoping to make it 2 from 2 but that’ll depend on what Geratz and his Dino Rabbit Deck can do against him. Let’s see what happens![/p]

[div]Geratz won the roll and started the Match with a Set [reaper] and 2 [st]s.

Engel started with [ff tensu] and used its effect to Summon [ff bear]. He tributed Tensu to destroy [reaper] and attacked directly, losing out to [dprison]. He then [ns]ed another Bear and Set 3 cards.

Geratz Summoned [guaiba], attacked and Engel activated [ff tensen], to which Engel responded with [lance]. Guaiba won the battle and another was Summoned, which was used to Summon [laggia]. Engel played [tt] and Laggia negated it. Geratz set 1 card.

Engel passed after Setting 1 [st].

Geratz attacked directly with [laggia].

Engel Set another card.

Geratz attacked again and Set a monster.

Engel played [hole] which cleared the field.[/div]

Recycle 5, draw 2, a combo that's been popular for years.

[div]Geratz played [poa], sending back the cards you see in the picture above to draw 2 cards. [pod] was played next, and Engel wasn’t happy to see the [storm] revealed, which was taken. Geratz promptly played it only to see [road]! Engel’s remaining 3 cards were safe as he Summoned [sdd]. Engel tried to destroy it with [tt], but [lance] protected it! Geratz Summoned [saurus] and attacked into [sdd], only to get taken down by a [i]second[/i] Lance! Geratz set 2 cards to finish.

Engel played [ff tenki] and added [ff gorilla] to his hand before Summoning it. Geratz played [tt] and Engel Tributed his [sdd] in response. Gorilla Tributed Tenki to destroy the Set [macro] before attacking.

Geratz Summoned [saurus] and destroyed itself and Gorilla in battle.

Engel Summoned [ff dragon] and attacked directly.

Geratz drew [b]Mind Control[/b] and Summoned [mole] before passing.

Engel attacked and Mole bounced both monsters back to the hands. Dragon was Summoned again and Engel Set a [st].

Geratz Set a monster.

Engel played another [ff tensen]. Dragon’s effect kicked in, Tributing both trap cards to revive [ff bear]. Engel then [xyz]ed [ff tigerking]. He added [ff tenki] to his hand, which he played to get another [ff bear], which was Summoned. Bear’s effect destroyed another [reaper] and his monsters attacked for game.[/div]

Could Marcel Geratz make a comeback?

[div]Geratz started Duel 2 with [tkr] and 2 Set cards.

Engel played [storm] to destroy the [sw] and [bth] before playing [ff tensu]. He Summoned [ff bear] with its effect and followed up by using Bear to destroy the [tkr]. [ff tenki] was up next giving Engel a free [ff gorilla], which was Summoned. Both monsters attacked directly, allowing him to Set another Tenki with Bear’s effect. He ended his turn by Setting 2 more cards.

Geratz played [hole], clearing the field before he Summoned a [saurus] which attacked directly. Geratz Set 1 card to finish.

Engel played his second Tenki and added [ff gorilla] to his hand before Summoning it. Gorilla Tributed Tenki and [lance] was Chained to weaken it.

Geratz played [mst] on [sw] and Summoned [guaiba]. [laggia] was Xyz Summoned to take down the Gorilla. [ff tensen] was played in defence but promptly negated.[/div]

[p]Engel played [rabbit], Summoning 2 copies of a classic card, [b]Vorse Raider[/b]! [ff tigerking] was Xyz Summoned giving him a free [ff tensu]. He Summoned [ff dragon], the look on his opponent’s face was one of disbelief and slight admiration. The 2 Xyz Monsters destroyed each other and Dragon attacked directly. Dragon’s effect kicked in in [mp2] to give Engel a [ff bear]. He Xyz Summoned another [ff tigerking], getting and activating [ff tenki]. That was enough to seal the Match after Geratz saw his next card.[/p]
