Round 3 Feature Match: Gabriel Rodriguez vs Daniel Feldtmann

Welcome to Round 3. This round we are featuring table 33 with Sydney’s Gabriel Rodriguez playing HERO, taking on Daniel Feldtmann from Melbourne playing Sky Striker Orcust. They’ve both seen the top cut of YCS Sydney before and they’re keen to make it back. Will the newer Deck win over the tried and trusted Sky Striker Orcust? Let’s find out. After pleasant exchanges, Daniel wins the die roll and chooses to go first.

R3 Daniel

Duel 1:

Daniel begins with Allure of Darkness to Draw 2 cards and banish Orcust Harp Horror. He Normal Summons Armageddon Knight sending World Legacy – “World Wand” and banishes it to Summon back Orcust Harp Horror. He uses the two monsters to Link Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton. Galatea returns World Legacy – “World Wand” to set and then activate Orcustrated BabeL. Orcust Harp Horror is banished to Summon Orcust Knightmare from Deck. Daniel Xyz Summons Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star before Link Summoning I:P Masquerena using Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star and Orcust Knightmare. In End Phase, he finishes off by using Orcust Knightmare to send Orcust Cymbal Skeleton and then Orcust Cymbal Skeleton to Summon Galatea, the Orcust Automaton.

Gabriel draws for turn and activates Fusion Destiny. Daniel is surprised at his matchup and then uses Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring to negate it, knowing what the card does. Gabriel proceeds to Summon Elemental HERO – Stratos to search Vision HERO – Faris. He discards Elemental HERO – Shadow Mist to Special Summon Vision HERO – Faris triggering both effects, adding Destiny HERO – Plasma to hand and putting Vision HERO- Increase to the Spell&Trap Zone. He activates Vision HERO – Increase effect to Summon itself by sending Vision HERO – Faris to the Graveyard and triggers the second effect to Summon Vision HERO – Vyon from Deck which sends Destiny HERO – Malicious to the Graveyard. He uses Vision HERO Vyon’s second effect banishing Elemental HERO Shadow Mist from the Graveyard to add Polymerization from the Deck to his hand. Gabriel then tributes all 3 HERO monsters on his field to Special Summon Destiny HERO- Plasma to the field. He activates Plasma’s effect to attach Galatea, the Orcust Automaton as CL1, Daniel responds with Galatea, the Orcust Automaton’s effect to target Galatea, the Orcust Automaton as CL2, Nibiru the Primal Being as CL3 and Orcust Harp Horror as CL4. Orcust Harp Horror Summons Orcust Knightmare and then Nibiru the Primal Being Tributes all monsters on the field but remains in hand because Daniel is now only able to Special Summon Dark monsters. Gabriel continues his turn banishing Destiny HERO – Malicious from his Graveyard to Summon one from his Deck. Next he uses Polymerization to Fusion Summon Vision HERO Adoration using a Vision HERO – Increase and Vision HERO – VYON from his hand. Gabriel then link Summons Xtra HERO Cross Crusader using Vision HERO – Adoration and Destiny HERO – Malicious. Xtra HERO Cross Crusader then Summons back the Destiny HERO – Malicious but quickly tributes it off to add Evil HERO Adusted Gold to his hand. Next he activates Dark Calling banishing the Vision HERO – Faris and Evil HERO Adusted Gold to Fusion Summon Evil HERO Malicious Bane. He declares an attack with both monsters for 4600 putting Daniel on 3400 Life Points.

R3 Field

During the End Phase, Daniel, uses Orcust Cymbal Skeleton to Summon back Galatea, the Orcust Automaton.  He draws for turn then uses Orcustrated Return to discard Orcust Cymbal Skeleton to draw 2 cards. Gabriel assesses the situation and decides to go to concede to have more time for the next two games.

 

Game 2:

R3 Gabriel Hand v2

Gabriel chooses to go first in game 2. He starts the duel with E- Emergency Call adding Elemental HERO – Stratos to hand before normal Summoning it and adding Vision HERO – Faris to hand. He Special Summons Vision HERO – Faris by discarding Destiny HERO – Malicious and uses Vision HERO –  Faris to put Vision HERO Increase in the Spell&Trap Zone. He Link Summons Xtra HERO Cross Crusadia and Summons back the Destiny HERO – Malicious he discarded before and quickly tributes it to add Evil HERO Adusted Gold to hand. Gabriel banishes the Destiny HERO – Malicious to Summon Destiny HERO – Malicious from Deck and then tributes it with Vision HERO Increase to special Summon itself. Increase then Summons Vision HERO – Vyon from Deck which sends Elemental HERO Shadow Mist to Graveyard. Vision HERO – Vyon then banishes Elemental HERO Stratos from the Graveyard to add Polymerization to hand. Next up is a Monster Reborn Summoning back Elemental HERO Shadow Mist which allows Gabriel to add a Mask Change from his Deck to his hand. Gabriel then uses Xtra HERO Cross Crusader and Increase to Link Summon Xtra HERO Wonder Driver. He then activates Mask Change tributing Vision HERO – Vyon to Summon Masked HERO Dark Law and then Xtra HERO Wonder Driver sets the Mask Change. Gabriel sets another card to the back before passing over.

Daniel draws and activates Allure of Darkness to draw 2, banishing Orcust Cymbal Skeleton. Because he added a card to his hand, Masked HERO Dark Law banishes a random card from Daniels hand taking out an Orcust Crescendo. He activates Upstart Goblin to draw a card and then re-evaluates his hand. He decides to normal Summon Dark Grepher and uses it to attack over Elemental HERO Shadow Mist which allows Gabriel to add Elemental HERO Stratos to hand. Still in Battle Phase, Daniel banishes 8 cards from the top of his Main Deck to special Summon Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher which he uses to attack Masked HERO Dark Law. Gabriel activates Mask Change to tribute Masked HERO Dark Law to Summon Masked HERO Anki and uses Xtra HERO Wonder Driver to once again set the Mask Change. He moves to his Main Phase 2, Daniel uses Dark Grepher to discard Orcust Cymbal Skeleton to send Orcust Harp Horror from Deck to the Graveyard but Gabriel immediately uses Called By the Grave to Banish the Orcust Harp Horror. Daniel ends his turn. Gabriel draws a card for his turn and after a bit of deliberation, Daniel concedes also not wanting to waste time.

R3 Siding

Game 3:

Daniel opts to go first with just over 14 minutes in the round. He begins this duel with Reinforcements of the Army adding Dark Grepher. He follows up with Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage to add Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones using it to Summon a Token. The Token becomes Sky Striker Ace – Kagari which adds Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones back to hand. He continues with Allure of Darkness drawing 2 cards and banishing the Dark Grepher he searched earlier. In these draws he drew into another Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage which he uses to search a Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor and drawing a card. He’s not stopping there, he activates another Allure of Darkness drawing 2 more cards and this time he Banishes an Orcust Knightmare. He plays the Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones again before Normal Summoning Scrap Recycler. He uses Scrap Reycler to send Orcust Harp Horror and banishes to Summon Orcust Knightmare. Sky Sriker Ace – Kagari and Orcust Knightmare become Galatea, the Orcust Automaton, and he uses its effect shuffling back Orcust Knightmare to set and then activate Orcustrated Babel. He uses Scrap Recycler and the Sky Striker Ace Token to Summon an I:P Masquerena before Xyz Summoning Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star and using its effect to attach Orcust Harp Horror as material. He sets 2 to the back and passes turn.

Gabriel draws for turn and in his Standby Phase, activates Cosmic Cyclone to target Orcustrated Babel. Daniel responds with Orcust Knightmare to send Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher, before he banishes his Orcustrated Babel. Moving on, Gabriel reveals Vision HERO – Faris by discarding Destiny HERO – Malicious to which Daniel responds with I:P Masquerena’s effect link Summoning a Knightmare Unicorn. Chain Link 1 will be Vision HERO – Faris and Chain Link 2 will be Knightmare Unicorn discarding Droll and Lock Bird, Chain Link 3 is Daniel’s Sky Striker Mecha – Shark Cannon targeting the Destiny HERO – Malicious in the Graveyard and Chain link 4 is Gabriel’s Mask Change tributing Vision HERO – Faris to Summon Masked HERO – Anki. The Destiny HERO -Malicious is then removed from play and Vision HERO – Increase will be placed the Spell and Trap Zone from Gabriel’s Deck. Gabriel Normal Summons Elemental HERO Stratos and uses its effect to destroy Spell & Trap cards forcing Daniel to activate his Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor targeting Masked HERO – Anki. As Vision HERO – Increase is treated as a trap card, he activates it tributing Masked HERO – Anki to Summon itself and a Vision HERO – Vyon from Deck which then sends a Destiny HERO – Malicious from Deck to the Graveyard. Vision HERO – Vyon then removes Masked HERO Anki from Graveyard to add Polymerization to hand. After all that, Daniel discards Droll & Lock Bird from hand preventing players from adding any more cards to their hand from Deck for the rest of the turn. Gabriel banishes Destiny HERO – Malicious from the Graveyard to Summon his last copy from his Deck. He link Summons Xtra HERO – Cross Crusader using Destiny HERO – Malicous and Vision HERO -Increase and immediately Summons back the Destiny HERO – Malicious. He then uses Polymerization using Vision HERO – Vyon and Destiny HERO- Malicious to Fusion Summon Destiny HERO – Dangerous. Next he Link Summons Xtra HERO Dread Decimator using Xtra HERO – Cross Crusader and Elemental HERO – Stratos.  In the Battle Phase, Destiny HERO – Dangerous will attack Knightmare Unicorn and then Daniel Summons Gizmek Orochi, the Serpentron Sky Slasher back from the Graveyard to block the attack from Xtra HERO Dread Decimator. On the attack replay, Destiny HERO – Dangerous activates its effect discarding Dark Calling to send Destiny HERO – Celestial to give Xtra HERO Dread Decimator an attack increase. He passes turn and the clock ticks over. Gabriel wins with a 150 Life Points lead.

R3 Gabriel win

Gabriel fights back from a weak first duel to come back strong in the next two duels and moves on with a 3-0 record.
