Round 3: Kehinde Adereni (Agents of Perfection) vs. Alexandre Devoyon (Hero Beat)

[p]
The tournament is progressing at lightning speed! We’re already about to start round 3 and we invited Kehinde Adereni to our Feature Match table. He came all the way from London and is running something rather unique: Agents featuring [hop]! His opponent is Alexandre Devoyon who is putting his trust in a Hero Beat Deck!
[/p][p]
Both players rolled a 6 and Devoyon followed it up with another 6! This time, Adereni couldn’t quite match it and Devoyon opted to go first!

[p]He came out strong with [alius] and 3 back row cards.
[/p][p]
Adereni [ns]ed [venus], however, [sj] negated the summon. Adereni then tried to [reborn] the Agent, however, [bribe] foiled that plan as well! Devoyon wouldn’t give Adereni any ground! [rites] followed, allowing Adereni to add [hop] to his hand.
[/p][p]
Devoyon wouldn’t step off the gas; he [ns]ed [rai oh] and attacked directly with both of his monsters! He added a second Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
[storm] wiped Devoyon’s back row. [jupiter] was [ns]ed next and Adereni contemplated his next move.
[/p][nbsp]
Adereni held on to his best cards, waiting for the perfect moment!

[nbsp][p]
He used [jupiter]'[s] effect to banish [venus] and attacked with it over [rai oh]. He set a Spell or Trap and ended his turn.
[/p][p]
[alius] attacked over [jupiter], destroying the monster in battle and dealing 100 damage to Adereni, who was now on 4100. Another back row for the French Duelist and play was back to Adereni.
[/p][p]
He [ns]ed [manju], adding [ara] to his hand. He then activated the Ritual Spell Card, sending [megami] from his Deck to his Graveyard and [ss]ing [hop] in Defense Position. That concluded the turn.
[/p][nbsp]
Pot of Duality provided Devoyon with a few choices!

[nbsp][p]
Devoyon used [duality] to add [e call] to his hand. He activated it right away, this time adding [stratos] to his hand. He [ns]ed it, activated its effect and Adereni had to consider his response. He checked his Graveyard real quick and felt it was best to discard [megami] for the effect of [hop] to negate the effect and destroy [stratos]! One more card in Adereni’s hand, but he wouldn’t stop. He attacked with [alius] over [manju] and passed.
[/p][p]
Adereni banished [jupiter] to [ss] the [hyperion] he drew into. He used its effect to get rid of [alius], clearing the way for both of his monsters for direct attacks. Devoyon reached for his Side Deck right away!
[/p][nbsp]

Kehinde Adereni keeps his cool and turns the game around with [hop]!

[nbsp][p]
Even though Kehinde Adereni had to take a lot of damage on his second turn already, he continued to play his Deck in the best way possible, summoning one Fairy after another to eventually turn the game around! Could he do the same in the second game?!
[/p][nbsp]

Alexandre Devoyon's Heroes did NOT like Herald of Perfection's high DEF!

[nbsp][p]
Devoyon kicked things off, [ns]ing [stratos] to add [alius] to his hand. [duality] followed, which got him [bribe]. He set 3 back row cards and passed with [stratos] in face-up [atk].
[/p][p]
Adereni [ns]ed [venus] once again. This time it did hit the field and after Adereni opted to activate the effect for the first time, Devoyon chained [bom]. This meant that Adereni now had a face-down [venus] as well as a face-up [def] [msb] on the field. [rites] was activated next, which got him [hop] from his Deck. He activated a second copy and Devoyon had no response again. With 2 [hop] on his hand, Adereni passed his turn.
[/p][p]
Devoyon [ns]ed [alius]. He attacked over both of Adereni’s monsters, set all of his remaining cards (now 5 Spell or Trap Cards in his back row) and passed.
[/p][nbsp]
What would prove more effective: Throwing all your cards on the field or holding on to them as long as possible?

[nbsp][p]
Another [venus] came down on Adereni’s following turn. Once again, he activated the effect and just like last time, Devoyon had a response: [spark]. He Tributed [alius], destroying [venus] and drawing a card. Adereni had to pass.
[/p][p]
Devoyon attacked over [msb], set a fifth Spell or Trap once more and play was back to Adereni.
[/p][p]
He passed without performing any actions.
[/p][p]
[stratos] attacked directly. 5900 Life Poins remaining for Adereni.
[/p][p]
In the following turn, the British Duelist activated [dawn]. It was met with [bribe], Adereni drew and he now felt safe enough to use [storm]. He played right into Devoyon’s cards or to be more precise: Right into [road]! [sdd] was [ss]ed and Devoyon was now sitting in an even better position than before![br]
Adereni found a second [dawn], however. This allowed him to discard [megami] and [ss] [hop] in face-up [def]. He banished the Ritual Spell Card to return [megami] to his hand and that concluded the turn.
[/p][nbsp]
It seemed impossible to overcome Herald of Perfection!

[nbsp][p]
Devoyon activated [hero blast], Adereni chained [hop]'[s] effect and Devoyon chained [sdd]'[s] effect! However, Adereni wasn’t quite done just now. He simply chained [hop]'[s] effect for a second time. This left Devoyon a little nonplussed as he was seemingly not aware of the fact that you could use [hop]'[s] effect more than once during the same chain![br]
Devoyon collected his thoughts and activated [e call] to add [alius] to his hand. He [ns]ed it to the field, checked his Graveyard and activated [miracle]. Adereni had to consider his response – would he have another Fairy in his hand to negate this effect as well?[br]
He did and Devoyon was obviously frustrated. He sighed and checked Devoyon’s Graveyard, took a look at his Extra Deck to check if he had something that could deal with [hop]'[s] 2800 DEF, but eventually only set a third Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
Adereni passed without performing any actions. Devoyon did the same.
[/p][p]
Back to Adereni, who passed once again without performing any actions. Devoyon added a fourth Spell or Trap to his back row.
[/p][p]
Adereni was back on 4 cards in his hand, which translated to 4 possible negations. He felt safe enough and passed.
[/p][p]
A fifth Spell or Trap for Devoyon. Nothing happened on Adereni’s following turn.
[/p][p]
[hero blast] on Devoyon’s following turn was met with [hop]'[s] effect. [e call] was activated next, adding another [alius] to Devoyon’s hand. [spark] then Tributed [alius], trying to finally get rid of [hop]. Adereni checked his Graveyard and decided there was still enough space for yet another Fairy, so he discarded [jupiter]. Devoyon set a fourth Spell or Trap and passed.
[/p][p]
Adereni added a Spell or Trap to his back row.
[/p][nbsp]
Herald of Perfection was still defending Adereni's Life Poins at all cost!
Herald of Perfection was still defending Adereni's Life Poins at all cost!

[nbsp][p]
Nothing happened on the following two turns.
[/p][p]
Devoyon added a face-down card to each zone. Adereni, ever the relaxed player, passed without performing any actions.
[/p][p]
[snowman] was [fs]ed the next turn. Adereni discarded [megami], obviously to Devoyon’s demise.
[/p][p]
The following turn, Adereni flipped [decree] as he finally drew into [hyperion]! It hit the field and was then used to destroy [stratos]. Adereni [ns]ed [honest] and attacked directly with both [honest] and [hyperion]. This left Devoyon with 4200 Life Points. During [mp] 2, [honest] was returned to Adereni’s hand and that concluded the turn.
[/p][nbsp]
Master Hyperion was Adereni's preferred way to apply pressure!
Master Hyperion was Adereni's preferred way to apply pressure!

[nbsp][p]
Suddenly Adereni had the upper hand and it was Devoyon who had to find a way to slow the game down! He checked both Graveyards, set a monster and passed.
[/p][p]
[hyperion]'[s] effect was used by Adereni to destroy the set monster, which was revealed to be [alius]. It seemed a little like a desperate way for Devoyon to buy himself another turn. [jupiter] came down and its effect was used so it could attack for 2600. [hop] attacked directly and Devoyon flipped [prison] for fun. An attack with [hyperion] followed and Devoyon had another [prison]. With [decree] on the field, he couldn’t use his Trap Cards to get rid of the opposing monsters.
[/p][nbsp]

Kehinde Adereni is now 3 – 0!

[nbsp][p]
Asked if Kehinde Adereni always tries to take a slower approach, he said as long as it seems like he’s winning, he really doesn’t mind. Even though it might have looked to an outsider like he was behind, he was always in perfect control of the match. That’s why it was so easy for him to keep his cool, wait for [hyperion] and then start applying pressure and turn the game around! Quite the winning strategy if you ask me!
