Round 4: Richard Thompson (Madolche) vs Craig Lyne (Karakuri)

Here is one of our Feature Matches that was lost in the wilderness of yesterday! Richard Thompson is playing an amazing Madolche Deck which he has written his own strategy article in his Deck Profile which will be uploaded later on! Craig Lyne is playing Machina Karakuris, this will be blast!

Thompson wins the roll and goes first, setting a very defensive three [fd] [sts] and passes to his opponent.

[b]Game One[/b]
Lyne starts off by Special Summoning a [swj] in DEF mode and Normal Summoning a [248]. Spying what’s going to happen next, Thompson discards his [maxx] and waits for his card draw! Lyne switches his [248] to DEF position for it’s own effect and Synchro Summons [stardust] allowing Thompson to draw a card and enters his Battle Phase ready for his attack! Thompson dashes this with a quick [ced] to send [stardust] back to the Extra Deck. Lyne sets two [fd] [sts] and tries to end his turn quickly, but Thompson hits him with a [dust] and destroys Lyne’s [bom].

Thompson opens his turn with a [mad ticket], giving him a taste of tricksy tricks that are to come but not giving too much away by setting a [fd] Monster Card and one [fd] [st].
[br]
Lyne follows suit, feeling he’s already shown too much and sets one [fd] Monster Card and one [fd] [st].
[br]
Thompson isn’t phased by the display and passes his turn.
[br]
Lyne is a little bored of waiting and flips [decree] and a [248]! He activates [instant fusion] and Thompson chains [mst] to destroy [decree] just in case. [instant fusion] resolves and Thompson sees the terrifying sight that is [cyber saurus]! Thompson activates [vane] just in case. It doesn’t phase Lyne, who just enters his Battle Phase to attack the [fd] [mad mewf] destroying [vane] in the process. [mad mewf] returns to the Deck, activating [mad ticket] and getting [mad hoot] to hand. Lyne moves to [mp2] and Synchro Summons [00x] to Special Summon [177]. Lyne sets one [fd] [st] and ends a less destructive turn than what he was hoping for.

[mad hoot] makes an appearance at the start of Thompson’s turn and is hoping to be joined by friends! He’s stopped by an [effect veiler] so instead [mad hoot] simply attacks. [248]’s effect activates turning himself to DEF position and allowing Lyne to draw a card. Thompson sets one card and reluctantly ends.
[br]
Lyne sensing weakness plays [iron call] to Special Summon [248] in DEF mode. He Synchro Summons into [naturia beast] and now has two massive Monster Cards on the field. He gets rid of the [mad hoot] with an attack, who returns to the Deck activating [mad ticket], getting [mad hoot] to hand. Lyne attacks directly and, finally getting the destruction he felt he needed to do, ended.

[mad hoot] returns! This time he can get his friends and he Special Summons [mad mess], who delivers a [mad chat] to Thompson’s hand. He activates [pwwb] discarding a [mst] to send [naturia beast] back to the Extra Deck where he belongs. Thompson activated [mad chat] and passes his turn, pleased with himself.

Lyne isn’t as impressed and discards [fortress] and [swj] to Special Summon [fortress] and Normal Summons [313]. He attacks [mad hoot] who is added to his hand and using [mad ticket] gets [mad mewf] from his Deck to his hand. [00x] attacks [mad mess] who goes back to Thompson’s hand.

Thompson’s turn to shine! He activates [hole] to clear Lyne’s board and Normal Summons a [mad mewf], allowing him to Special Summon [mad mess] and get [mad pal] from his Deck! He attacks directly, sets one [fd] [st] and awaits Lyne’s turn.
[br]
Lyne sets one [fd] Monster Card and ends his turn, know what was coming next.
[br]
Thompson Normal Summons [magileine] and gets a [mad mess] into his hand. “I’ll do more searching!” he boasts, and uses a [mad pal] to Special Summon [mad hoot] and [mad mess], using [mad mess] to get another [mad pal]. He Xyz Summons [mad tiara] who returns [mad mess] and [mad pal] from his Graveyard to his Deck to clear what remains of Lyne’s field, Special Summons [mad mess]! That was enough to seal Duel 1!

Lyne ready and waiting!

[br]
Lyne gets to go first this game and Normal Summons a [frame] allowing him to get [fortress] to hand. He sets three [fd] [sts] and allows Thompson to make his move.
[br]
Thompson boasts another [mad ticket], sets one [fd] Monster Card, two [fd] [sts] and ends his turn into a [decree]!
[br]
Lyne, now fearing nothing from Thompson’s back row, attacks into a [fd] [mad mess] and Thompson adds [magileine] to hand with [mad ticket].
[br]
Thompson Normal Summons [magileine] who meets the same fate as [mad hoot] with an [effect veiler]!
[br]
Lyne Normal Summons [224] and Thompson again senses what may be coming next and discards a [maxx]. Lyne goes in a different direction, attacking [magileine] who is added to Thompsons hand and then attacking directly. Cautiously, Lyne adds [frame] to [224] as an Equip Card in [mp2].
[br]
Thompson Normal Summons [magileine], getting to use her effect finally and bringing [mad hoot] to hand.
[br]
Lyne’s going all out as he brings [frame] back as a monster and activates [instant fusion]. Thompson is ready as always and discards [maxx]. [cyber saurus] hits the field again and [stardust] follows soon after. [magileine] meets [frame] and it doesn’t end well for Thompson, and a [stardust] directly to the face is sure to leave a scar.
[br]
[mad mewf] comes to play and Special Summons a [mad hoot], Lyne chains his [iiw] forgetting about his own [decree] and in a last ditch attempt to stop the effect of [mad hoot] he activates [bom]. This doesn’t work and [mad hoot] still Special Summons [mad mess] who in turn gets [mad chat] to hand. [mst] hits [decree] hard, but is stopped with a [stardust]! [mad mess] attacks [frame] and [mad mewf] gets a hit in directly. The turn ends, and [stardust] returns!
[br]
[fortress] makes another appearance for Lyne by discarding itself and [swj] and a [redox] also shows up to Special Summon another [fortress]. [fortress] attacks [mad mess] and [mad ticket] gets [mad mewf] to Thompson’s hand. [fortress] decimates [mad mewf] and [stardust] attacks [mad hoot].
[br]
Thompson knows it’s time to stop messing around Normal Summons [mad mewf] who in turn Special Summons [mad hoot] who in turn banishes [maxx] to Special Summon [magileine] and Xyz Summon [xm]! He detaches a material from [xm] to Special Summon [mad mess] in Face-Up DEF position and Xyz Summons [mad tiara]! She returns two Cards to the deck and returns [decree] and [stardust] to their respective Decks. [mad pal] Special Summons [mad hoot], [mad mess] and [mad mess] to get [mad pal] and [mad chat] to hand. Thompson Xyz Summons [maestro] and detaches a material to turn [fortress] [fd]. [mad tiara] attacks the Face-Up [fortress] who’s effect activates, destroying [xm]! [maestro] attacks the [fd] [fortress] who destroys [mad hoot] who in turn returns to Thompsons hand! Thompson ends an amazing turn.

Lyne accepts the end, and sets one [fd] Monster Card.
[br]
Thompson knows what to do, he detaches a material from [mad tiara] and returns Lyne’s remaining cards to his Deck. He Normal Summons [magileine] and attacks for the win!
