Round 5: Joao Silva vs. Vladislav Shlimovich

[p]In case you didn’t know: Players from Israel also qualify for the World Championship Qualifier: European Championship and try to earn their ticket for Worlds here. To prove my point, I invited Vladislav Shlimovich to the Feature Match table. He has to face one of Portugal’s finest: Joao Silva. Shlimovich was playing an Anti Deck, while Silva relied on the speed and power of the Blackwings!
[/p][p]
Shlimovich rolled a 6 and opted to go first. He activated [duality], revealing [lady], [rai oh] and [mst]. He was quick to pick [rai oh], shuffled the other cards back into his Deck, [ns]ed [rai oh], Set 4 Spells or Traps and was done with his opening turn.

[nbsp][p]
Silva simply Set 2 Spells or Traps.
[/p][p]
[rai oh] attacked directly, dealing 1900 damage. In Main Phase 2, Shlimovich Set a 5th Spell or Trap before passing his turn.
[/p][p]
It didn’t seem like Silva was scared by [rai oh]. He didn’t perform an action on his following turn.
[/p][p]
[rai oh] dealt another 1900 damage.
[/p][p]
Now it was time to act! [sirocco] came down and Shlimovich checked all his face-down cards. He flipped [bth]. Silva Chained [tt], but Shlimovich Chained [ced]! [duality] was next, revealing [bora], [gale] and another [sirocco]. Silva picked [sirocco] so he would have an answer to [rai oh] the following turn. He Set a Spell or Trap and passed.

Thunder King Rai-Oh kept bringing the beats!

[nbsp][p]
Once again, [rai oh] was [ns]ed. It dealt another 1900 damage before Shlimovich passed.
[/p][p]
Silva then Summoned [sirocco] and he declared an attack on [rai oh]. Shlimovich had [fchalice], however, Silva Chained [kalut] to finally get rid of the Thunder Type Monster. Silva seemed happy enough and ended his turn.
[/p][p]
Shlimovich Set a monster. He was up on 4 back row cards and held onto 1 card in his hand.
[/p][p]
Time for Silva to step up his game! He activated [ddv], Tributing [sirocco]. This way, the Set [lady] on Shlimovich’s side of the field was destroyed and [rai oh] in Shlimovich’s hand was revealed. [blizzard] was [ns]ed next and its effect was activated, but Shlimovich Chained [opp] to the effect.[br]
Silva had to think for a short while and opted to negate the Permanent Trap Card with [sj]. After [blizzard] returned another Blackwing Monster to the field, Shlimovich flipped [tt] – he wouldn’t let Silva gain any ground! [reborn] brought back [sirocco] and Silva passed with 2 cards left in his hand, hoping for his [sirocco] to protect his Life Points from any more damage.
[/p][p]
Shlimovich drew into [pachy], which was destroyed because of [ddv]. However, he revealed his Set [ced] and Silva knew that was enough together with the [ced] in his hand!
[/p][nbsp]

Vladislav Shlimovich takes the first Duel thanks to multiple [rai oh]'[s]!

[nbsp][p]
Side Decking didn’t take long and both players were quick to start the second Duel.

[p]Silva [ns]ed [rai oh] and Set a Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
Shlimovich [ss]ed [cd] first, but [rai oh] sacrificed itself to take the big Dragon down! [breaker] came down next and it got rid of the Set [mst]. Shlimovich Set 2 Spells or Traps and passed.
[/p][p]
Silva Summoned [sirocco], but it was met with [warning]. He had to pass.
[/p][p]
Shlimovich didn’t feel like stopping the beatdown; he added [rai oh] to his party and attacked with both of his monsters. The Israelian player Set a second Spell or Trap and passed.
[/p][p]
Play was back to Silva, who Set a card to each zone.
[/p][p]
Shlimovich had another [rai oh] and when he declared his attacks, Silva shuffled up his cards in frustration – he had nothing to stop the attacks after his Set monster got destroyed and watched Shlimovich’s monsters reducing his Life Points to 0.
[/p][nbsp]

Vladislav Shlimovich beats Joao Silva 2 – 0!

[nbsp][p]
Silva was quick to point out that his record in Feature Matches wasn’t very impressive. Somehow, he just doesn’t draw into what he needed to put up a fight. It seemed a little like he was pretty helpless while Shlimovich confidently sent his monsters in for attacks.
