Round 7 Feature Match: Muchait Izci (Mermail) vs Eugen Heidt (Dragon Ruler)

29.06.2013 | 22:41 |

Former German National Champion Muchait Izci is undefeated today with Water – in our penultimate round of the day he faces Eugen Heidt who barely had to travel for this event as he comes from Frankfurt! Izci qualified by finishing in the top four at this year’s National Championship while Heidt won a WCQ: Regional at YCS Lille.

Heidt won the roll and started with [sarco] banishing [redox] and searching [reactan]. He flicked the cards in his hand deciding what move to make – before settling on no move at all.

Izci set three [st]s and passed.

Reactan discarded [tidal] to [ss] a Redox from the Deck in defence – Izci responded with [iiw]. As Heidt went to leave his [mp], Izci flipped [a sphere] which was chained to with [maxx]. [linde] came out in defence and Izci chose to stay in his [mp], [ns]ing [veiler] and [synch]ing [scrap d]. It’s effect was stopped by Izci’s Veiler and so Scrap instead attacked. [pike] hit the field and [ahi] was discarded to take Scrap Dragon off the field. [rejuv] netted Heidt two cards in the [ep] and he passed.

Izci [ns]ed [a mark] and entered his Battle Phase. When Marksman declared an attack, [maxx] was dropped and Izci chose not to [ss]. Abysspike went in for 1600 and it was back with Heidt.

[card d] dropped five Monsters from his hand and Izci lost his [teus] and Infantry. [storm] was met with [sj], dropping Izci to 4000. [blaster] from the hand destroyed [iiw] at last and then the [ss]ing began! First off was [tidal] from the grave, followed by [tdrag]. Redox came next – all were in attack position. Attacks in the Battle Phase left Izci on 400 LP.

[mp2] saw [sack] with some token friends, and play was back with the former National Champion.

It was decided that [ns]ing [diva] was the best play, and it searched for an Infantry in attack position. [a drag] was Summoned and [crimson blader] came next, attacking over Tidal and making it’s effect live.

Dracossack was quick to deal with the issue and then spawned two tokens.

Izci drew to two in hand and quickly conceeded, seeing no way out of the situation.

Game two was begun with the Water player, and he opened with Maxx “C”, Abysspike, Diva, Abyssteus, Abyssphere and Dragoons. He summoned Abysspike and discarded the Dragoons for it’s effect, searching [gunde] and [megalo] respectively. The Abyssphere was set before he passed.

Heidt used the effect of [burner], discarding Tidal to [ss] Blaster in attack. Both graveyard monsters were banished to [ss] another Blaster – Izci used [maxx] and drew, while Heidt searched a [stream] from Tidal. The Blaster Summoned with it’s own effect attacked over the Abysspike, and then both monsters were tributed for [ladd].

Izci activated [hole], chaining [a sphere] to the negation effect of LADD. It Summoned [leed] which attacked over the Dragon, destroying Heidt’s set [ced] and [ss]ing Blaster from his graveyard. [mp2] saw Izci discard Abyssmegalo to [ss] Abyssteus in attack, searching Abysspike. It was [ns]ed and Abyssgunde was discarded to search Abysslinde. Abyssgunde [ss]ed another Abysspike from the graveyard. Izci had a momentary lapse in memory as he tributed Abyssmegalo for the effect of Abyssleed and the effect was negated by Abyssphere. [stream] discarded Abysslinde to bring out Tidal and Dracossack was next to the field, spawning tokens and destroying Blaster. Tidal was [ss]ed from the graveyard and both Abysspike’s were used to [xyz] [dweller].

Dweller detached a material at the start of Heidt’s turn to make it’s effect live. Heidt discarded [b]Flamvelle Guard[/b] for Stream’s effect to [ss] Tidal, and [pblocker] was [ns]ed. Dracossack was the declared card name and Blocked attacked the token.

Heidt discarded Tidal to [ss] Abyssteus. He had no targets left in his Deck to search so was left with his Deep Sea Diva in hand. Tidal [ss]ed itself from the graveyard and ran over Heidt’s Tidal thanks to the boost from Abyss Dweller. Attacks followed from Dweller and Abyssteus, with Dracossack unable to attack due to Psi-Blocker.

As Heidt drew, Izci used the effect of Abyss Dweller and we were heading to game three!

Heidt started us off in game three with a set backrow.

Izci drew and Summoned Abysspike, discarding Marksman. [bom] was chained and Abysspike’s effect resolved, searching Abysslinde. Three was the magic number of cards to set before passing – one of which was [sj].

It was used to counter Heidt’s [storm]. Burner discarded Tidal to [ss] Blaster. and Tidal was Summoned from the graveyard. It attacked over Abysspike before Heidt atttempted to Summon Dracossack – negated by [sw]. He set a backrow and passed.

Izci Summoned Abysslinde and attacked for 1500 as time on the round drew closer and damage became imperative. [tdrag] was Summoned from the hand – although it gave Izci a card thanks to [maxx]. Psi-blocker was Summoned and used it’s effect to call Abysslinde, getting negated by [chalice]. Heidt had the [ced] however, bouncing Abysslinde to the hand and attacking for the match!
