Only one more round today! This is where it counts the most for these 2 players: Tom Carnier and Maarten De Bleser. Both are currently sitting on a 4 – 2 record, so they need to win all of their remaining matches to have a shot at the Top 32 tomorrow!

Carnier finished in the top 4 of the Dragon Duel Championship in Leipzig and today he’s trying his luck in the main event. He’s running Inzektors just like his opponent Maarten De Bleser. Both players are from Belgium, however, they come from different corners, speaking different languages (English and French) – what else would be different in this match? Read more to find out!

De Bleser rolled a 5 and Carnier’s 3 wasn’t quite enough to match it. That gave De Bleser the advantage of going first!

[duality] revealed [mst], [foolish] and [veiler], with the Quick Play Spell Card getting added to De Bleser’s hand and the other 2 cards shuffled up into his Deck. He Set a Spell or Trap and passed.

Carnier used [mst] to rid the field of [bom]. He activated [duality] and added [maxx] to his hand, sending [reborn] right back. He set a back row card and ended his turn.

Back to De Bleser who was quick to [ns]ed [i pede] to the field. [tt] was activated, clearing the field once more. A face-down Spell or Trap later, play was back to Carnier.

Another [i pede] was [ns]ed, but [warning] foiled that plan. De Bleser passed without performing any more actions.

De Bleser [ns]ed [tgu] and Carnier chained [fiendish]. [mst] was chained, targeting the Trap. Carnier wasn’t done, though, he discarded [veiler] to strip [tgu] of its effect for the time being!

After Carnier only set another Spell or Trap, De Bleser [ns]ed a second [tgu]. [tt] was used after [sangan] hit the field and that concluded the turn. [i fly] was added to De Bleser’s hand ([sangan] search).

Carnier had a [i fly] of his own, [ns]ed it and he attacked directly.

De Bleser also [ns]ed his [i fly]. He opted to activate the effect, however, [veiler] from Carnier’s hand made sure that wouldn’t work. [i sword] was then used to equip De Bleser’s [i pede] and it attacked over Carnier’s copy!

[hole] got rid of [i pede]. This got De Bleser [i fly] back from his Graveyard.

After all those foiled attempts, De Bleser was happy that his next [i fly] was finally able to resolve its effect successfully! He equipped it with [i hornet] from his hand, attacked directly and passed.

Carnier found another [duality], which revealed [i pede], [i fly] and a third Inzektor. He added [i pede], [ns]ed it and attacked over the equipped [i fly]. Once again, play was back to De Bleser. Life Points were standing at 6900 (De Bleser) to 3800.

Carnier opted to activate the effect of [i pede] on his following turn, but De Bleser had [fiendish] to stop it. [i hornet] was [ns]ed and it attacked for 500 damage, followed by [rai oh]. During [mp] 2, both Inzektors were used to Xyz Summon [zenmaines].

Carnier attacked with [rai oh] over the set [maxx]. An attack with [sangan] that he summoned the same turn followed, leaving De Bleser with only 1900 Life Points!

De Bleser set another Spell or Trap.

[allure] allowed Carnier to draw 2 cards and he banished [dad]. He then activated [mst] to destroy De Bleser’s last face-down Spell or Trap, followed it up with [mind] and that’s when De Bleser started to shuffle up his cards!

De Bleser kicked things off with [foolish], sending [i hornet] to his Graveyard. He set a card to each zone and ended.

Carnier tried to [ns] [rai oh], but [warning] made sure that wouldn’t go through. [hole] followed and De Bleser lost [sangan], which in turn got him [i fly] from his Deck.

It came out the following turn and tried to equip itself. That worked, so [i hornet] now boosted [i fly]. A direct attack followed, De Bleser activated [duality] during [mp] 2, revealing [veiler], another copy of the Pot and [storm]. De Bleser opted to go for [veiler]. He equipped [i fly] with [i sword] and passed his turn.

[i pede] was [ns]ed and its effect was activated, but De Bleser used [veiler] to negate that. [i mantis] equipped itself to the Inzektor on the field, which then allowed it to take down [i fly]. [i sword] helped De Bleser to return [i fly] to his hand.

He [ns]ed it the following turn and activated the effect, but another [veiler] negated it. De Bleser set a Spell or Trap and passed.

[i hornet] equipped [i pede] thanks to [i pede]'[s] effect. [mst] was chained before Carnier could use the effect of [i hornet]. However, that still allowed Carnier to search his Deck for an Inzektor. He picked [i fly] and [ns]ed it to the field. He activated the effect to bring back [i hornet], then activated [i hornet]'[s] effect to destroy his own [i mantis].

This started quite a couple of combos, which left Carnier with the following field:

He used [i hornet] and [i pede] to Xyz Summon [17]. His remaining 2 Inzektors were used to bring out a second copy. Both monsters used their effects and [reborn] followed, bringing back [i fly]. It attacked directly, the first attack of [17] also went through, however, that’s when De Bleser [ss]ed [gorz] to the field! Carnier proceeded with [mp] 2 and wanted to use [i fly]'[s] effect. De Bleser chained [veiler] to save his [gorz] from destruction!

[tgu] was [ns]ed the following turn and got De Bleser a second copy from his Deck. Both were used to Xyz Summon [17], [gorz] was switched to [atk] and play proceeded with the Battle Phase. [gorz] and the token made short use of Carnier’s 2 Xyz Monsters. [17] attacked over [i fly] and that concluded the turn!

Carnier checked his Graveyard before [ns]ing [i fly]. De Bleser did not have to check Carnier’s Graveyard as he already knew what would follow. He extended his hand and shook the hand of his countryman, wishing him the best of luck for the remaining rounds!

It seemed like Maarten De Bleser was about to turn that match around, but that was before Tom Carnier found another [i fly] to start yet another Inzektor combo and win the game in astonishing fashion!
