Round 9 Feature Match: Ramin Ashak vs Dino Spasovski
This is the second last round of swiss and everyone’s getting nervous. Tensions are rising and Duelists are attempting to maintain their emotions to be able to play out the last few rounds which are the most crucial. Australia isn’t the only country in the Oceanic territory. New Zealand also have a few key players who have made representations including the World Championship. One player who is still on the bubble is Dino Spasovski who is playing World Chalice playing again Ramin Ashak from Sydney playing Salamangreat. You read that right! There is a World Chalice deck still in this tournament.
Ramin wins the die roll and chooses to go first. He opens Effect Veiler, Salamangreat Sanctuary, Infinity Impermanence, Cynet Mining and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.
He begins with Cynet Mining discarding Effect Veiler to add Salamangreat Gazelle and then Normal Summons it to send Salamangreat Spinny. He Special Summons Salamangreat Spinny and overlays into Salamangreat Miragestallio and then summons Salamangreat Jack Jaguar from deck. He makes Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf with the two and Summons back the Jack Jaguar by returning Miragestallio from the graveyard to the extra deck. He turns Jack Jaguar into Salamangreat Balelynx. Ramin activates Salamangreat Sanctuary. After that, he uses Santuary to Link Summon another Balelynx using the on field Balelynx allowing Sunlight Wolf add Salamangreat Gazelle from the Graveyard to his hand. Ramin ends his turn after setting an Infinite Impermanence.
Dino draws and without hesitation activates Cosmic Cyclone on the set Infinite Impermanence. He Normal Summons The Agent of Creation – Venus. Using Venus, Dino Summons a Mystical Shine Ball from his Deck. He uses the Shine Ball to Link Summon Imduk the World Chalice Dragon. Dino then uses Venus to Summon another Shine Ball. Using the additional Normal Summon from Imduk’s effect, Dino Tribute Summons World Legacy – “World Chalice” using the Shine Ball before Special Summoning a third Shine Ball. World Legacy – “World Chalice”and Imduk are used to Link Summon Auram the World Chalice Blademaster and activates the effects of the Link Materials allowing Dino to Special Summon Lee the World Chalice Fairy from his hand along with World Chalice Guardragon and then Chosen by the World Chalice from his deck. Lee the World Chalice Fairy will add a copy of World Chalice Guardragon from deck to hand before being used with Chosen to Synchro Summon Ib the World Chalice Justicar adding World Legacy Guardagon to hand. Dino uses Ib the World Chalice Justicar and a Mystical Shine Ball to Link Summon Ib the World Chalice Priestess and Special Summons back Imduk using Justicar’s effect. Next he Link Summons Guardragon Elpy using World Chalice Guardragon. Dino uses Elpy’s effect to summon Omni Dragon Brotaur and attempts to target The Agent of Creation – Venus with its effect but Ramin negates it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Dino recognises he has change of plans now so he uses Elpy, Brotaur and Auram to link summon Borrelsword Dragon. He banishes World Chalice Guardragon from the graveyard to activate its effect to summon Chosen By the World Chalice from the Graveyard. Next up he Special Summons Exodius the Ultimate Forbidden Lord by returning all monsters in his Graveyard to his deck. While that normally is a bad thing it also put all the Mystical Shine Ball’s back in his deck as well! Dino uses Exodius, Imduk and Chosen to Link Summon Knightmare Unicorn, and discards another copy of Exodius to return Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf to the Extra Deck. Because Unicorn was co-linked to Ib the World Chalice Priestess, Dino draws a card.
Dino uses Venus’ effect to summon out 2 more Mystical Shine Ball’s and uses one of them along with the Knightmare Unicorn to Link Summon Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess. He uses Borrelsword Dragon’s effect to switch Venus to Defense Position to gain an additional attack this turn. Ramin is overwhelmed at this point especially at the speed Dino was able to execute his plays and says they will go to the next game now.
Ramin chooses again to go first. He opens a better hand this time of Salamangreat Gazelle, Effect Veiler, Infinite Impermanence, Will of the Salamangreat and Cynet Mining. He uses Cynet Mining discarding Will of the Salamangreat to add Salamangreat Spinny to hand. Ramin Normal Summons Salamangreat Spinny and Link Summons Salamangreat Balelynx. He adds a Salamangreat Sanctuary to hand and Special Summons Salamangreat Gazelle, using Gazelle’s effect but Dino has the Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit prompting Ramin to change his plans and send Salamangreat Falco from the Deck to the Graveyard allowing him to set the Will of the Salamangreat he discarded earlier. He activates the Will to Special Summon back the Gazelle from Graveyard. He Xyz Summons Salamangreat Miragestallio with Spinny and Gazelle and uses its effect to Summon Salamangreat Jack Jaguar from deck. Jack Jaguar and Balelynx are then used to Link Summon Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf. Ramin activates Salamangreat Sanctuary and uses its effect to Summon another Sunlight Wolf using the first. He proceeds to Special Summon back Jack Jaguar returning Salamangreat Miragestallio and allowing him to add Gazelle to hand from graveyard through Sunlight Wolf’s effect. Like last game, he ends his turn after setting an Infinite Impermanence.
Dino’s hand consists of not 1, not 2, but 3 Mystical Shine Ball’s along with a Crowned by the World Chalice and a World Legacy – “World Chalice”. Trying to make the best of the situation he Normal Summons a Shine Ball and Link Summons Imduk, the World Chalice Dragon. In the Battle Phase, he attacks the Sunlight Wolf with the Imduk and after being destroyed, he uses Imduk to summon Crowned by the World Chalice from hand. In Main Phase 2 Dino uses Crowned to Link Summon Link Spider to which Ramin activates Infinite Impermanence on. Recognising that this game isn’t salvageable, Dino quickly concedes.
With well over 25 minutes left on the clock, Dino will choose to go first. Dino opens a hand of The Agent of Creation – Venus, World Chalice Guardragon, Emergency Teleport, Foolish Burial, and World Legacy’s Sorrow. He leads with Emergency Teleport to summon Chosen by the World Chalice from deck to Link Summon Link Spider. Ramin summons Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay from Hand and draws 2 cards before shuffling back 1 into the Deck. Dino summons The Agent of Creation – Venus and Special Summons 3 Mystical Shine Balls from deck. He turns Venus and a Shine Ball into Knightmare Phoenix. Dino follows up with Foolish Burial to send Lee the World Chalice Fairy to the graveyard. The second Shine Ball becomes an Imduk the World Chalice Dragon which is immediately sent to the graveyard to add Lee from Graveyard to Hand. Imduk then activates Special Summoning Lee which adds World Legacy – “World Chalice” from Deck to Hand. Dino turns the last Shine Ball into another Imduk. Using his Additional Normal Summon, he tributes Link Spider for World Legacy – “World Chalice” and immediately uses the World Legacy and Imduk to make Auram the World Chalice Blademaster. Imduk Special Summons World Chalice Guadragon from hand while the World Legacy Special Summons Chosen by the World Legacy and Lee the World Chalice Fairy from Deck. Chosen and Lee are used to Synchro Summon Ib the World Chalice Justicar. Ib adds World Legacy’s Heart from deck to hand before being used to with World Chalice Guardragon to Link Summon Ib the World Chalice Priestess. Justicar then summons back Lee the World Chalice Fairy from the Graveyard. Dino activates World Legacy’s Heart to add Chosen By The World Chalice and World Chalice Guardragon to hand. He uses World Chalice Guardragon to Link Summon Guardragon Elpy. Elpy summon Omni Dragon Brotaur activates its effect to target Lee to allow him to add Archlord Kristya to hand but not before Ramin summons Sea Archiver from his hand. Dino uses Knightmare Phoenix, Elpy, Brotaur and Lee to Link Summon Saryuja Skull Dread. He uses the effect to Draw 4 cards and puts back 3 to the bottom of this Deck. Next up he banishes World Chalice Guardragon from Graveyard to Summon back a Chosen By the World Chalice. Auram the World Chalice Blademaster tributes the Chosen to Special Summon Imduk the World Chalice Dragon from the Graveyard. Imduk and Auram are used to make Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior. Imduk Summons back World Legacy – “World Chalice” and Ningirsu draws 2 cards. Dino uses Saryuja Skull Dread to Special Summon Crowned by the World Chalice. Ningirsu sends both the Crowned and Ramin’s Fantastical Dragon Phantazmay to the Graveyard. Dino uses the Skull Dread, Ningirsu and World Legacy to Link Summon Knightmare Unicorn discarding Archlord Kristya to remove from play the Sea Archiver. Dino activates Monster Reborn to Special Summon back the Kristya and ends his turn after setting World Legacy’s Sorrow.
Ramin draws and begins his turn using Infinite Impermance on Kristya but Dino discards World Chalice Guardagon to negate the activation. Next he summons Flame Bufferlo to attack Ib the World Chalice Priestess and then when Bufferlo is destroyed, Ramin discards Salamangreat Spinny to draw 2 cards. In Main Phase 2, Ramin activates Cynet Mining discarding Flame Bufferlo but Dino negates it with Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring. Ramin activates another Infinite Impermanence again targeting Kristya but Dino this time activates the World Legacy’s Sorrow to negate. Ramin passes turn with no cards on field and only 1 in hand.
Dino draws Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. He banishes World Legacy – “World Chalice” to add World Legacy Succession from his deck to his hand. Lee sends Kristya to the Graveyard (but is returned to top of the deck by its effect) to add to hand. Dino banishes World Chalice Guardragon to Special Summon Crowned By the World Chalice and Normal Summon’s Lee to add World Chalice Guardragon to hand. Ib the World Chalice Priestess, Knightmare Unicorn and Lee are used to Link Summon Borrelsword Dragon. Dino activates the World Legacy Succession to Special Summon back Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior and that’s enough damage for Dino to win the game and match
Despite opening 3 Mystic Shine Ball Game 2, Dino was able to take it out and go into the last round of Swiss at 7-2. Hopefully we can see a World Chalice deck in the top cut of YCS Sydney.Back to all news
