Semi Finals: Marvin Weber (Dino Rabbit) vs. Nathan Pang (Dino Rabbit)

18.12.2011 | 16:17 |

[p]Nathan Pang seemed like the luckiest Duelist in the whole Top 4. He never had to face a Dark World nor Agents Deck all the way to the Semi Finals. Both players relied on Dino Rabbits, so you sure knew what to expect.
[/p][p]
I totally forgot to mention that Nathan Pang won his Nationals in 2009. He was just 16 years at the time. With 2 more years of experience and the advantage of going first in this match, this tournament seemed to continue to unfold in his favor.

[nbsp][p]
He set a card to each zone and passed.
[/p][p]
Weber had [mst] for [ced] and [ns]ed [guaiba]. Pang responded with [maxx]. [guaiba] was sent into [sangan] and this allowed Pang to draw a card as well as search his Deck for [rabbit]. Weber used [sarco] to banish a [rabbit] of his own, he opted to Xyz Summon [dolkka], set a Spell or Trap and passed.
[/p][p]
7 cards in Pang’s hand and he set a Monster as well as 3 Spells or Traps. Play was back to Weber.

[nbsp][p]
[mst] got rid of the newly set card: [warning]. Pang then entered his following turn; he activated [reborn] to bring back [sangan] and followed it up with [hole]. [sangan] allowed Pang to search his Deck for [tour] while Weber simply lost [dolkka]. [tour] was [ns]ed next and got Pang another copy from his Deck. He used them both to Xyz Summon [leviair]. One of the Materials was detached so [rabbit] returned to the field. It was Tributed to bring out 2 copies of [saurus], then Pang proceeded with his Battle Phase.[br]
All the attacks went through, which left Weber with 2400 Life Points. In [mp] 2, both of the Normal Monsters piled up to [ss] [laggia].
[/p][p]
Weber couldn’t get [rabbit] back because it left the zone of banished cards in the meantime and was now considered a different card. He [ns]ed [saurus] and declared an attack, but when Pang revealed [prison], Weber knew he had to step up his game in the following 2 Duels.

[nbsp][p]
Both players went immediately for their Side Decks and started to exchange cards. They seemed rather confident about what they were doing, so this didn’t take long. Weber then started the second Duel.

[nbsp][p]
He kicked things off with [saurus] and he set 2 Spells or Traps.
[/p][p]
[mst] was used to get rid of [warning]. [rabbit] followed and Weber knew he just took a huge blow! 2 copies of [kabaz] hit the field and they were used to Xyz Summon [laggia]. The following attack of the Xyz Monster over [kabaz] succeeded and Pang was done with his turn.
[/p][p]
Weber simply set a Monster and passed.
[/p][p]
[mind] helped Pang to make [snowman] change sides. He [fs]ed it and destroyed it. Then [duality] got him [rai oh]. He [ns]ed it and attacked with [laggia]. [ced] was used, but the Material Monsters were detached to negate the Trap. Pang opted to play it safe and didn’t attack with [rai oh].

[nbsp][p]
[hole] cleared the field, Weber brought out [kabaz] and it attacked directly. 6300 remaining for Pang.
[/p][p]
The Brithish Duelist only set a Monster and passed.
[/p][p]
[kabaz]’ attach revealed the set Monster to be [sangan], which got Pang [tour]. Weber set another Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
[rai oh] came down and its attack ended in [mf]. Pang passed.
[/p][p]
[kabaz] took another direct shot, Weber set 2 more Spells or Traps and he passed.
[/p][p]
[tour] was [ns]ed and it got Pang a copy. He used both to [ss] [leviair], [rabbit] was returned to the field and that was then Tributed so he could [ss] 2 copies of [saurus]. Weber had [bth], however, which banished both of the Normal Monsters! [leviair] attacked and [lance] was used on it, so it was destroyed by [saurus]. [ground] in [mp] 2 finally destroyed the Monster and play was back to Weber.
[/p][p]
He simply set a second Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
3 cards in Pang’s hand and he checked his [grave]. No wonder, he was holding onto [reborn], which he activated next! [rai oh] was supposed to come back, however, Weber had [sj]! Pang passed.
[/p][p]
Weber mirrored his last turn and set a Spell or Trap. Pang did the same. Weber set a Monster.
[/p][p]
Weber used [mst] to destroy [poa]. [kabaz] was [ns]ed and it attacked into [snowman]. It stuck, but [kabaz] was destroyed! Back to Weber!

[nbsp][p]
Now Weber had a [kabaz] and he attacked with it directly. Pang thought long and hard before taking it; he was now down to 2000.
[/p][p]
He set a Monster in his following turn.
[/p][p]
Suddenly Weber took control. He activated [mst] and hit [bom]. It was used on [kabaz], but Weber simply flipped it back face-up. He then [ss]ed [rabbit] and used its effect, but Pang discarded [maxx]! That wasn’t good for Weber, but he simply proceeded with his Battle Phase. [kabaz] revealed Pang’s face-down monster to be [reaper], Weber performed a Xyz Summon in his [mp] 2 to add [laggia] to his side of the field (Pang drew another card) and that concluded the turn.
[/p][p]
[ground] forced Weber to detach his Xyz Materials. You could see the different Side Deck cards in this match duking it out ([snowman] and [ground]). Another [reaper] came down, both were used to bring out [17], one Material was detached and Pang attacked over [kabaz]. He set 2 spells or Traps and passed.
[/p][p]
Weber switched his Monsters to [def] and set a Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
[17] attacked over [snowman].
[/p][p]
Weber simply set another Spell or Trap.
[/p][p]
[17] took down [laggia] next. Pang added another Spell or Trap to his back row.
[/p][p]
Weber couldn’t really do anything, checked his 3 cards twice, but eventually had to extend his hand.

[nbsp][p]
Weber never saw [rabbit] in the second Duel and stood no chance against Pang who continuously unleashed the power of his Xyz Monsters! Nathan Pang was the first to overcome Marvin Weber this weekend; could he now go on and win the whole event?
