Talking to 2 World Dragon Duelists!

[p]2012 was the first year that Yu-Gi-Oh! held a Dragon Duel World Championship, for Duelists aged 13 and under. 2 of the Duelists that travelled to Tokyo earlier this year have made it to Barcelona. Zachary Leverett is one of the many American Duelists to show up today, and Eric Schmidt made the trip from Germany to compete. They discussed their previous experiences before the event got underway.[/p]
What was it like travelling to Tokyo?

[div]Leverett (ZL): The experience was pretty awesome; the plane ride was long but the event was worth it and I had a lot of fun.

Schmidt (ES): I also liked the event; I saw many things that I hadn’t seen before, and got to experience a new country.[/div]

What was it like to play in the World Championship?

[div]ES: It was a big challenge, and interesting playing against people from different countries, like Japan and USA.

ZL: It was a challenging event; first round I played the eventual champion and beat him, but he then beat me in Top 4 on Day 2. I got to play against almost all of the Japanese players too which was interesting.[/div]

[div]What was your highlight of the trip?

[div]ZL: For me it was Day 2 and the playoffs, it had sunk in what I had done, coming this far. I’d done something that only a few people have done before, which was amazing.

ES: I liked the event itself and how the week was organised; we went sightseeing around Tokyo which I enjoyed.[/div]

Have you competed in many YCS events in the past?

[div]ES: This is my third YCS; I played in Germany 2 times (Bochum and Leipzig). I won the Dragon Duel in Leipzig, and I’m looking forward to playing in Bochum again next year.

ZL: This is about my 15th or so; I’ve done road trips across America with my family to play in YCS events before. This is my first European YCS though, and I’m looking forward to the challenge and seeing how different it is to playing in America.[/div]
[p]Both of these Duelists have already had a great year, and are hoping to finish it with a good result in Barcelona. Best of luck to both of them![/p]
