The Decks to expect this weekend.

[p]YCS Lille is the first international European event of the current Advanced Format. Compared to most YCS events, the one in a new format always kicks up some surprises, as we get our first look at what kinds of new strategies Duelists have come up with. While many new Decks are expected to surface over the weekend, these are the ones that everybody will need to watch out for.[/p]

.
Mermail is considered the Deck to beat.

[br][p]The most popular deck this weekend will most likely be Mermail. The WATER-based Deck hasn’t had to make any changes because of the Forbidden & Limited Cards List , but the emergence of new Decks like Fire Fist has prompted some changes to the way people approach Mermail. Recent innovations include dropping the Genex cards in order to fit in more Mermail cards (some Duelists call this variant “Mono-Mermail”) adding [bahamut] and [atrite] to the Extra Deck, and even trying out cards like [brd] and [decree] again. Expect to see many different spins on the tournament favourite this weekend.[/p][br]

.
Dino Rabbit has been around for well over a year now.

[br][p]Next up is Dino Rabbit (or Macro Rabbit as some people call it). The key strategies haven’t changed much from the past few events, so Duelists will know what to expect. [rabbit], Normal Monsters and the Evolzar Xyz Monsters will all be present at the top tables, and could well propel a Duelist to overall victory here.[/p][br]

.
Fire Fist Decks are improving at every event.

[br][p]Fire Fist is a recent addition to the top tables, having made its European YCS debut in Bochum a few months ago. Whereas Mermail and Wind-Up were the top 2 decks in North America at the time, Fire Fist and Wind-Up were the decks to beat over here. Now that Duelists have had time to pick up all the cards, play with (and against) the Deck a bit more and tweak their builds, you can easily expect to see a bunch of Fire Fists in the Top 32 tomorrow afternoon.[/p][br]

.
Wind-Ups!

[br][p]While the above Decks are certainly the Top 3, they won’t be the only ones in with a shot of glory over these next 2 days. HERO Decks will be present as [b]Elemental HERO Escuridao[/b] is now available to Duelists, allowing them to use [superpoly] to fuse their HEROes with any opposing monster. There’s also a new HERO Deck based on [b]Elemental HERO Electrum[/b] that’s making waves.[p]
[p]Many Duelists have experimented with adding [rabbit] to Fire Fist Decks, in order to Summon more Xyz Monsters. Some Duelists may call this variant “Dino Fist” or “Fire Rabbit”. Let’s not rule out Wind-Ups either! Although wholesale changes to the Deck had to be made on March 1st, people have still found a way to make the Deck successful. French Duelist Vincent [rala], who’s competing here this weekend, recently went undefeated during the Swiss rounds of YCS Austin, using a Wind-Up Deck. This would have caught the attention of many Duelists, so expect to see a few Wind-Up decks this weekend.[/p]
[p]All-in-all it’s looking like another varied selection of Decks will be hitting the top tables and playoffs this weekend. The most successful Duelists at this YCS will have to face and defeat all of these Decks in order to leave Lille with the title and a copy of [dig], and it’ll be interesting to see how these Decks face off against each other as well. Once again, best of luck to everyone competing this weekend![/p]
