”Only 2 more wins to win a free trip to Tokyo”, is going to be the motto for the moment. Facing each other in an all-German showdown are Fabian Renner and Christoph Pracht!
Pracht’s 1 wasn’t quite enough to match Renner’s 3. That meant that the finalist of the YCS Leipzig would be allowed to go first.
Pracht had Wind-Up Rabbit and that was fine with Renner. It attacked Tour Guide From the Underworld and Renner thought about that for a bit, but he eventually thought it was OK. Pracht Set a back row card and and.
Mystical Space Typhoon destroyed Fiendish Chain. Sabersaurus was Normal Summoned and Sangan declared an attack on Wind-Up Rabbit. The elusive monster used its effect to banish itself. That meant Pracht had to take the damage after the replay from both Sangan and Sabersaurus. Renner Set a Spell or Trap.
Pracht Normal Summoned Wind-Up Rat. He also Special Summoned Wind-Up Shark, used it with Wind-Up Rabbit to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity, but Renner had Bottomless Trap Hole. Wind-Up Rat brougth back Wind-Up Rabbit, both were then used to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Zenmaines and he sent it into Sabersaurus. Dimensional Prison from Renner banished that Xyz Monster as well! Pracht Set a Spell or Trap and ended.
Sangan took a direct shot and it connected. Sabersaurus followed suit, which left Pracht with 2200 Life Points. Tour Guide From the Underworld was Normal Summoned in Main Phase 2, Renner searched his Deck for another copy and Pracht responded with Torrential Tribute. This allowed Renner to search his Deck thanks to Sangan's effect. He picked Rescue Rabbit.
Renner continued with the big plays, now activating Pot of Avarice to draw into 2 new cards! Maybe one of the reasons why he didn’t fear Torrential Tribute. He Set a second Spell or Trap and play was back to Pracht.
Renner Normal Summoned and Tributed Rescue Rabbit for its own effect. This got him 2 Kabazauls. He attacked into Spirit Reaper and in Main Phase 2, he Xyz Summoned Photon Papilloperative to the field. He Set a Spell or Trap and ended.
Pracht drew into Heavy Storm! He activated it, causing the crowd to go wild for the first time, followed it up with Wind-Up Rat, brought back Wind-Up Rabbit and together they Xyz Summoned Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity! Its effect (detaching Wind-Up Rabbit) got him a second Wind-Up Rat from his Deck, which brought back Wind-Up Rabbit once again. Both were then used to Xyz Summon Temtempo the Percussion Djinn, its effect helped it to strike down Photon Papilloperative, a direct attack by Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity followed and that concluded the comeback for Pracht.
Renner had Tour Guide From the Underworld and he Special Summoned Sangan from his Deck. Leviair the Sea Dragon came out, which brought back Rescue Rabbit, which helped Renner to Special Summon 2 copies of Sabersaurus from his Deck. He went for Maestroke the Symphony Djinn and the following attacks left Pracht with no field.
Pracht drew and only Set a Spell or Trap.
Renner declared an attack and that’s when Pracht went for his Side Deck.
Fabian Renner takes the lead!
By now, both players were extremely familiar with the mirror match, so it didn’t take them long to exchange cards between Decks. Pracht wanted to go first the second Duel, so let’s see if that would make the difference.
Sabersaurus was Normal Summoned on Renner’s first turn and it attacked over Wind-Up Shark. He also had 3 face-down Spells or Traps and ended. Royal Decree in the End Phase would give Pracht some more security the following turn.
Wind-Up Rat was Normal Summoned and Renner used Book of Moon to flip it face-down. Or rather he wanted to, as Pracht Chained Wind-Up Rabbit's effect to banish it. Monster Reborn brought back Wind-Up Shark and together, both monsters were used to Xyz Summon Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. One of the materials got detached, but Renner discarded Effect Veiler. It atatcked anyway, but a Forbidden Lance in Renner’s back row made sure he would keep Sabersaurus!
Renner had 2 cards after he drew for his turn and he went for his Extra Deck. With Monster Reborn and Forbidden Lance and no additional monsters in his own Grave, he certainly couldn’t go for an Evolzar. He activated Monster Reborn, targeting Pracht’s Wind-Up Shark. It attacked, an attack with Sabersaurus followed and that left Pracht with 4300 Life Points. Both monsters were then used to Xyz Summon Number 39: Utopia. Renner Set a Spell or Trap and that concluded the turn.
Pracht’s Wind-Up Rat came back. He used its effect to bring back Wind-Up Rabbit from his Graveyard and he used both monsters to Xyz Summon Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity. This got him another Wind-Up Rat, he used it to return Wind-Up Rabbit once again, we saw another Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity making an appearance and yet another Wind-Up Rat.
Wind-Up Rabbit came back and together with Wind-Up Rat, it helped Pracht add Temtempo the Percussion Djinn to the field. He used its effect, detaching 1 of Number 39: Utopia's materials (Wind-Up Shark) and he ended the turn with 1 card in hand.
“Temtempo the Percussion Djinn is really the game breaking card here!”, Pracht admitted. Number 39: Utopia declared an attack into Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity and Pracht lost his Xyz Monster. Renner Set a Spell or Trap and ended. Before Pracht entered his turn, he used Temtempo the Percussion Djinn's effect to detach another of Number 39: Utopia's materials.
Pracht found Heavy Storm! “That’s mean!”, Renner commented. He activated Forbidden Lance, targeting Temtempo the Percussion Djinn and lost his remaining back row cards. Pracht used the effect of Wind-Up Carrier Zenmaity to Special Summon Wind-Up Rabbit from his Deck. Attacks followed, leaving Renner with no field.
Renner simply Set a monster.
Pracht drew into Sangan and attacked with it, which left Renner on 2200 Life Points.
Renner checked both Graveyards, then Normal Summoned Sabersaurus. He did not attack.
Renner only Set a Spell or Trap.
Now Renner drew into Sangan and he attacked directly.
Pracht Set a second Spell or Trap.
Renner drew and attacked. That meant the extra turns were now all over. Since Pracht were still ahead of Life Points, that meant he was considered the winner of the game.
Christoph Pracht ties the score!
Christoph Pracht took extra care cutting Renner’s Deck. He claimed he needed to do it the right way to stand a chance in the last match!
Thunder King Rai-Oh was Normal Summoned and Renner added 3 face-down Spells or Traps.
Fabian Renner advances to the Top 8!
Christoph Pracht got close, but he couldn’t find a way to deal enough damage in the last 2 turns of the match to walk away victorious. Fabian Renner on the other hand seems to be in better shape than ever, so we might see him in the final once again!
