Top 16 Mega Feature

Here are a few live impressions from the Top 16 matches!

Sascha Fabian and Valerio Rozza want to win a free trip to Vegas!
Sascha Fabian and Valerio Rozza want to win a free trip to Vegas!

[nbsp]
On table 3, we have Sascha Fabian and Valerio Rozza. It’s one of the classic Germany vs. Italy Duels, with Fabian currently in the lead. He’s running Spellbooks, but it seems like Rozza’s Dragon Rulers can make a comeback in the second game!

Table 4: Piyal Peiris vs. Patrick Döbelin!
Table 4: Piyal Peiris vs. Patrick Döbelin!

Table 4 pits Piyal Peiris vs. Patrick Döbelin who we saw in last round’s Feature Match. Döbelin one-upped Peiris and his Mermails seem to be in decent shape in the second Duel, so maybe we’ll have another Duelist advancing to the Top 8 in just a minute?

Andrea Scaccia seemed like he was about to win the second Duel!

[nbsp]
We have Andrea Scaccia and Chris Bountaloudis on table 5 and that’s the field of Scaccia. The Greek player is currently in the lead, but Scaccia might still be able to turn this around.

Up: Tommaso Pomella; down: Federico Zoppini; looking good for Pomella!
Up: Tommaso Pomella; down: Federico Zoppini; looking good for Pomella!

The first mirror match takes place on table 6 where Federico Zoppini goes up against Tommaso Pomella. Both players rely on the popular Spellbook archetype that we’ve all grown to love over the course of the past 2 days.

Sergio Soldani vs. Paolo Pacchiana on table 7!

Table 7 pits Sergio Soldani vs. Paolo Pacchiana. This match features Dragon Rulers and Spellbooks, with Soldani favoring the Spellcasters.

After a quick timewarp!

After I took down the Player Profiles for 4 of the 8 remaining players (after this round), we saw that the game between Paolo Pacchiana and Sergio Soldani was nearing its conclusion with Soldani boasting a mighty powerful field.

Zoppini and Pomella had to roll a dice for the second time!

Next to them, Federico Zoppini and Tommaso Pomella had to roll a die for the second time. They went over time and were about to start their third Duel and it had to be decided at random who would go first.
[nbsp]
A standoff between Peiris and Döbelin!
A standoff between Peiris and Döbelin!

[nbsp]
The last match that was within my reach was the one between Piyal Peiris and Patrick Döbelin. Just like before, the field made it seem like a big standoff with several monsters on both sides of the field.

Döbelin then made a move, [ss]ing [arm] and [megalo]. He attacked with [megalo] into Evilswarm Thunderbird and Peiris considered his response. [i infect] allowed him to return the monster to his Deck and he searched it for [ev castor]. Therefore, [rabbit] received a beating and the second attack of [megalo] left Peiris with only few Life Points. [arm] equipped [megalo] in Döbelin’s [mp] 2 and that concluded the turn.

Peiris went for [ev castor] and he aded a second copy. Döbelin, however, found an answer to this threatening scenario as shortly after, he joined me for the Top 8 profiles.

I hope you were able to feel some of the excitement that the players went through in the Top 16. We’ll soon present you the Top 8 profiles so you’ll know everything about the remaining 8 Duelists in competition!
