27.10.2013 | 15:56 |

This is it! The beginning of the end. We are now in the top 32 and the knockout elimination of the tournament. Aaron Henman is from here in the UK and has piloted Dragons to these stages – while Italian Mirko Dolce has come with his Thunder family Deck! Only one would move on to the top 16! Let’s find out who.

Henman won the roll and went first, activating [ravine] and pitching [tdrag] to send [redox]. He set a card and passed.

Dolce discarded [tsh] to add two copies of [pahunder] to his hand. He [ns]ed [ccd] and set two before activating it and moving to his End Phase with six in hand.

Henman used Ravine to pitch [maxx] and send [blaster] from the Deck. He activated it’s effect removing Tempest and Redox, searching out replacements for both. Blaster attacked for 2800 and Henman passed.

Dolce Summoned [pahunder] and used it’s effect to Summon a [mahunder]. The latter used it’s effect to Summon another [pahunder] and then Summoned [v pri]. He [synch]ed [stardust] and equipped Prism, then [xyz]ed [paladynamo]. It used it’s effect on Blaster and entered his Battle Phase. When Stardust went to attack [pwwb] put it back and Paladynamo attacked over Blaster. Dolce set to four backrow and passed.

Henman used Ravine to pitch [fog king] and send [tidal] from the Deck. He Summoned [debris] and Dolce responded with [chain] – Henman had the [break] discarding Redox on the Chain and Debris bought back Fog King. Redox was revived by Banishing a Tempest which replaced itself. Fog King and Tempest combined to become [sack], which didn’t survive for long thanks to [bth]. Tidal revived from the Graveyard by Banishing Blaster – again searching a replacement. [star eater] was [synch]ed and Henman attempted to enter his Battle Phase. It was successful and Eater bashed over Paladynamo. Dolce drew a card and Henman set a [st].

[pod] gave Dolce a [pachy], which he [ns]ed. After re-reading Star Eater he passed.

Before Henman could enter his Battle Phase [ced] dealt with Star Eater. [tdrag] discarded to search [f guard], which was discarded with [blaster] to destroy Fossil Dyna. Tidal and Redox were both revived – the latter in defence. Dolce took the attack and then lost his set [waboku] in [mp2] to a newly [xyz]ed [sack].

On his turn Dolce used [ccd] after setting a [st].

Henman ran in to a Chained Waboku with his Dracossack’s effect on the next turn. He spawned some more Tokens and used Ravine to add [corseca] to his hand. It was Summoned and combined with the tokens to make [afd], destroying his own Ravine and searching another, gaining 1000 LP in the process. His next move was to bring out Redox in defence by Banishing Tidal and search a replacement. He passed, unable to attack.

Dolce drew to four in hand and Summoned [pahunder] and then Prism. He [synch]ed [crimson blader] and paid to bring back Prism. Crimson Blader went over Dracossack and in the End Phase Redox returned to the hand.

Henman flipped his set [mind] and Dolce knew that his set [vane] couldn’t stop [afd] from attacking! He dove in to his Side Deck for the second game.

The Italian started off the second game with [tsh] to search out two copies of [v pri]. He Summoned [pachy] and set a backrow.

[trooper] came down for Henman, sending three from the Deck including [corseca] and [tdrag]. It attacked over Fossil Dyna and in [mp2] [ravine] discarded [blaster] to send [redox] from the Deck. It revived by Banishing Blaster and Tempest but ran into [vane]. Blaster and [debris] were searched from the Deck. He set one before ending.

Dolce discarded another Sea Horse to add two copies of [pahunder] and then Summoned his third Sea Horse, attacking over Trooper.

Henman discarded Blaster and [f guard] to take out a chained [waboku], taking Emptiness with it. [debris] was next and bought back Trooper which sent three from the top of the Deck. [afd] was [synch]ed and Ravine was cycled for another. Redox came back and combined with Fairy Dragon to [xyz] [sack], spawning tokens and taking out the Sea Horse.

Dolce Summoned lots of Monsters! Pahunder, then Mahunder, another Pahunder and finally Prism. First out was [paladynamo] which used it’s effect on Dracossack. next was [crimson blader], equipped with Prism.

Blader attempted to attack over Dracossack but was met with [pwwb]. Paladynamo was successful and Dolce set a [st].

Henman revived Blaster and activated the Ravine he searched last turn. He pitched to search Corsesca and Summoned it. [scrap dragon] was next and [chain] stopped the effect. With no more backrow set, Henman flipped [return]! There were a huge number of options for him to bring back and it was going to be more than enough to take the game. The Italian conceded!
