Only 5 more rounds until we’ll know who will be the European Champion 2013! We invited the remaining Mermail and Constellar players to our Feature Match table: Patrick Döbelin and Dung Dang Quoc. If that’s not going to be interesting, I don’t know what else will be!

In [mp] 2, Quoc [ss] [con ple], he returned [tenki] to his hand, Set a card and that concluded the turn.

[iiw] go flipped during Döbelin’s Standby Phase. [linde] appeared on the field, but the effect of [con ple] sent it back to where it came. [tidal] and [ahi] then allowed Döbelin to send [megalo] to his Graveyard and he ended his turn.

[a drag] came down and they attacked [dweller]. Quoc activated its effect before he lost it in battle.

[tenki] number 3 for Quoc! Döbelin let out a big sigh. This got him [con kaus], it hit the field and attacked over [a drag]. That concluded the turn.

Döbelin [ns]ed [linde] and he sent it into [con kaus]. This got him [a leed], he attacked over Quoc’s monster, making it 7300 Life Points for the Constellar Duelist.

Dung Dang Quoc takes the first Duel!

[nbsp]
Finally we managed to finish a Duel in less than 30 minutes! We’ve also seen a couple of cards that didn’t quite make the list of the “usual suspects” for our Feature Match table this weekend. Let’s see if Döbelin would find the right answers in his Side Deck to overcome the Constellars that Quoc favored over the other popular Decks this weekend.

“My Deck is better than his!”, Döbelin announced, pointing at Benni Preis who was the only player that defeated Dung Dang Quoc all weekend. “I won 2 – 0 against him!”, Preiss countered. “I’m sitting here and you’re just watching me!”, Döbelin shot right back. He then Set a card to each zone and passed.

[tenki] got countered by [mst]. [con she], the “[stratos] of the Deck” searched [con pol] and Quoc added it to his hand. He Set a Spell or Trap and play was back to Döbelin.

Döbelin [ns]ed [a mark] and he attacked, but [ced] slowed him down. He passed after that.

Quoc considered attacking or summoning more monsters. He switched his monster to [def], summoned [con pol] and [con som] and he went for [dweller]. He attacked into [snowman]! A cheer from the crowd!

Döbelin now attempted to unleash a flurry of summons of his own. He [ns]ed [diva] and that caused Quoc to ditch [maxx]. Döbelin added [ahi] while Quoc drew a card. [snowman] and [diva] were Tuned to [catastor] and it got rid of [con she]. Quoc was now left without a field.

On his following turn, he rebuilt with 2 face-down back row cards. He added a Set monster and passed play.

Döbelin, ever the bold player, invited [a mark] to his party, courtesy of the effect of [ahi]. [catastor] attempted to attack, but [ced] made sure that wouldn’t happen. [a mark] attacked into what was revealed to be [honest] and Döbelin took 500 Points of Damage. [br]
In [mp] 2, Döbelin added [linde] and he [xyz]ed [17]. He detached an Xyz Material, but Quoc flipped [soul drain]! Döbelin added a back row card and ended.

Patrick Döbelin turns the Match around and wins 2 – 1!

[nbsp]
Quite the back and forth between Patrick Döbelin and Dung Dang Quoc. Never has a Storm had a heavier effect than Döbelin’s copy in the last game. He added insult to injury when he admitted that he drew into it, causing Quoc to shake his head for a brief moment. He quickly recovered, however, and both players enrolled in some friendly chatter before Quoc wished Döbelin good luck for the remaining rounds.
