Top 8
Check out the top 8 of YCS Rimini! These players are still having a shot at winning the new Prize Card. Below, we will profile each player on his own.

Sören

Name: Sören Becker
Age: 21
Country: Germany, Dresden
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Zoo, I feel like it still is the most consistent Deck and has the best outs to any given situation. There is a lot of room for tech cards in the Deck and it only needs a single card to build a field.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? Everything is possible! Luck is still a deciding factor in this game depending on the die roll and who goes first.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run Book of Moon and Blind Destruction in the Main Deck. Both were my MVP cards this weekend. [ghost ash] came in pretty handy as well. I hit Maxx "C" 8 times!
Final words? Shoutouts to Tom Viergutz and Jan Krug for lending me some cards and all my friends in Dresden. I’m keeping it up for you.

Lorenzo

Name: Lorenzo Roma
Age: 20
Country: Munich, Germany
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Zoo, consistency is most important in long and grindy events like this. I tried True Draco for Euros and my result was accordingly. So, I decided to trade raw power for consistency.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I feel great, it’s my 1st YCS top ever. I feel very confident. My Deck is very good, but I don’t know if I can handle the pressure.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run Floodgate Trap Hole and Heavy Storm Duster in the Main Deck. My handtraps had move to my Side Board to make room for all of this cards. I also decided to drop [mbass]. The reason is that breaking a big board doesn’t make any sense, so I rather try grind out and overwhelm my opponent afterwards.
Final words? Shoutouts to my team Complexity Card Gaming, Tom Paine, Jawad Chowdhury and Piere Luigi Sorentina. Thanks for the playtesting and the advice.

Joshua

Name: Joshua Schmidt
Age: 21
Country: Germany, Gießen
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Draco: I couldn’t find time to prepare a lot. I never was a fan of Zoo and mirror matchs all day long. I rather looked for a Deck that wins against Zoo even when losing the die roll. For this event, I figured out True Draco was the way to go. I also relied heavily on the playtesting within my team.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I feel quite good, I took my revenge and won againt my worst Match-Up. It was the gut I lost to in Swiss. After all, I think my chances of winning are quite good. There are only Zoo Decks left and my Deck is geared towards beating them.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? We maindeck Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries and want to go second every time. Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries is such a strong card in the current metagame. It takes my opponents Zoodiac Drident and Zoo does nothing without it. Furthermore Zoo needs a lot of materials to get rid of my big monsters. They run out of resources pretty fast.
Final words? Shoutouts to Team Complexity Card Gaming and my girlfriend!

Jonas

Name: Jonas Spreng
Age: 18
Country: Germany, Kronau
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Zoo, I already got second at German Nationals this year and felt very confident with it. So I decided to take it to Rimini as well.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? My goal was to go to Top 32. I already exceeded my expectations. I feel like my chances are quite good. My Deck is geared towards the mirror match.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? I run Heavy Storm Duster and Floodgate Trap Hole in my Main Deck. In my opinion both cards are format breaking cards.
Final words? Shoutouts to my Team Yu-Gi-Oh! Elite Squad.

Armando

Name: Armando Guiseppe Mandile
Age: 22
Country: Italy, Napoli
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Zoo, it’s still the top tier Deck and it is my favourite Deck in the current metagame.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? It is my first Top 8 in a YCS and it feels like a dream came true. The pressure is high and I’m already very exhausted.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? The best card today is in my Side Deck: Appointer of the Red Lotus. It’s a great tech against Zoo and True Draco.
Final words? I want to give shoutouts to my friend Stefano Esposito, because the list was his idea.

Andreas

Name: Andreas Vrellos
Age: 19
Country: Greece, Athens
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Zoo, my friends told it is still the best Deck.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I guess my experience is in my favour. I’m very satisfied with my current achievement. After all this is my 1st YCS Top 8.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? It is a pretty standard build. Solemn Strike put in a lot work for me.
Final words? I want to thank my friends that didn’t playtest with me.

Themis

Name: Themistoklis Gkyzis
Age: 23
Country: Greece, Athens
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Zoo: each card as has huge impact on the game state. Every single card is more powerful than my opponents card. The Deck is also to create a form of soft lock that helps you create a game state that requires my opponent to have certain cards to break it.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I’m pretty happy after my struggles to get here. I’m also very calm and focussed, because of two people that were supporting throughout the event.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? I’m siding Blind Destruction to beat the mirror. When going second, I switch into a trap heavy Deck and start playing the grind game and gain plus 1s from each card as much as possible.
Final words? Shoutouts to Team CCG, Vale Metzler and the person who has been supporting me from home all the way.

Top 87

Name: Matteo Mordanini
Age: 20
Country: Italy, Rome
What Deck are you playing today? Pure Zoo, I feel it is the Deck at the moment. The Deck wins games with a single card. All the other Decks need at least two cards or more to go off.
How do you feel about your chances of winning today? I’m excited! This is my 1st YCS top. I have to admit that luck was on my side the whole weekend long. I might be able to win, but it also depends very much on my match-ups.
Any tech cards you want to let the world know about? I maindeck 3 copies of [mbass]. It’s one of the best cards in the mirror match. I decided to run it in the Main Deck, because I expected a lot of Zoo for this event.
Final words? High hopes will be great!
