Deck you’re playing this weekend and why?

Mermails, because I haven’t really been testing lately. I practiced heavily last year and that’s why I don’t know how Spellbooks, Hieratics and most of the other Decks work exactly. Since I only feel really confident with Mermails, I’m running it this weekend.

What’s been your biggest success prior to this weekend?

Runner-up at the largest YCS of all time in Long Beach.

Did you change your style of play when you advanced to the Top 32?

No.
Well, I have to admit, I take a few risks less than I do during the Swiss. I don’t expect my opponent’s to make bad moves, so I expect to be punished for playing too risky.

Deck you’re playing this weekend and why?

Mermail, I think it’s the best Deck at the moment. There are plenty of ways to win games with it.

What’s been your biggest success prior to this weekend?

Top 8 at YCS Barcelona!

Did you change your style of play when you advanced to the Top 32?

I’m a careful player and didn’t change my style of play just now.

Deck you’re playing this weekend and why?

Mermails – I’ve already played the Deck in San Diego, I enjoy running 53 cards and that’s why I feel comfortable with it.

What’s been your biggest success prior to this weekend?

I won the Austrian National Championship in 2012 and I advanced to the Top 8 of the European Championship.

Did you change your style of play when you advanced to the Top 32?

Deck you’re playing this weekend and why?

Prophecy – I own all the important cards and didn’t feel to confident with my alternative Deck (Chaos Dragons).

What’s been your biggest success prior to this weekend?

I did pretty well in a couple of regional tournaments.

Did you change your style of play when you advanced to the Top 32?

I went for a few more risky plays. I tried to read my Mermail opponent just now, activating a [mst] on a face-down card, which is usually not the best idea against the Deck. I was right, though; he only had a face-down [mst] and that allowed me to play [sb fate] and give me an edge!

Do you plan to attend the WCQ: European Championship 2013 in Frankfurt?

Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure yet.

Deck you’re playing this weekend and why?

Mermail – I think it’s the most competitive Deck at the moment.

What’s been your biggest success prior to this weekend?

Winning against Federico in the Top 16 was definitely my biggest success this weekend; I did reasonably well back in Bochum, making it to the last 32.

Did you change your style of play when you advanced to the Top 32?

I tried to be as aggressive as possible just now (against Prophecies), but I took a more conservative approach in the Top 32, so I often change my style of play from match to match. Yesterday, I was trying to play a little bit riskier in general.

I made day 2 at Euros back in 2010!

Did you change your style of play when you advanced to the Top 32?

Deck you’re playing this weekend and why?

Mermails – the Deck is very explosive and hard to beat.

What’s been your biggest success prior to this weekend?

I finished 3rd at last year’s World Championship!

Did you change your style of play when you advanced to the Top 32?

I was focused for the most part this weekend; I need to adapt a little now since my Top 32 opponent accidentally took my [dweller] after the end of the game. I realized his mistake in the middle of the Top 16 match; usually, that’s a Game Loss for a Deck that doesn’t match the Decklist, but the judges decided that since I didn’t do anything to get an extra advantage, I would “only” be awarded a Warning, however, I wasn’t allowed to add [dweller] to my Side Deck again.

Do you plan to attend the WCQ: European Championship 2013 in Frankfurt?

If I can afford the trip and I won’t have to travel for long, I’ll probably make it
(the tournament will be held 40 km away from his hometown).
