Top Tables in Round 9

[p]Only 3 more rounds until we’ll know who will still have a shot at making history and become a YCS Winner. The following players are sitting in the very best of positions to make it to the final stage of the event as they’re all featuring impressive records…
[/p][nbsp]

Table 1: Georg Halder vs. Nam Tran

[nbsp][p]
This is the first of 2 matches between 2 undefeated (!) players. They had quite the run yesterday and will only need more win to make it to the final 32. Halder relies on Agents while Tran is making good use of his Inzektors. It’s impossible to tell who has the upper hand in this match just now, so we might have to revisit it a little later.

Table 2: Patrik Rieder vs. Ilya Tchernomazov

[nbsp][p]
When we stopped by this table, Rieder showed Tchernomazov all the tricks his Wind-Up Deck could pull off. The early lead would certainly work in his favor and problably help him remain undefeated in the tournament. Then again, Tchernomazov already made a couple of noteworthy comebacks yesterday, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he could pull it off again.
[/p][nbsp]

Tchernomazov could do nothing but watch Rieder unleash the power of his Wind-Up Deck!
Tchernomazov could do nothing but watch Rieder unleash the power of his Wind-Up Deck!

[nbsp][p]
What is Tchernomazov playing, you might ask? Well, T.G. Plants, one of the Decks that wasn’t represented all too often this weekend. While I’m typing this, Tchernomazov went for his Side Deck, trying to find some tricks to still turn this match around.
[/p][nbsp]

Table 3: Maximilian Kautz vs. Raul Wehnge

[nbsp][p]
The home advantage really seemed to work for certain players this weekend. Take the local Maximilian Kautz for example, who hasn’t lost a game yet and is in hot pursuit of the 4 players that haven’t even drawn in a game yet.
[/p][nbsp]

Raul Wehnge certainly didn't mind Maximilian Kautz showing up late!
Raul Wehnge certainly didn't mind Maximilian Kautz showing up late!

[nbsp][p]
Could Kautz’s Dino Rabbit Deck find a way to overcome the bad odds and beat Wehnge’s Inzektors? We’ll know in just a few minutes!
[/p][nbsp]

Table 4: Jovhan Roberts vs. Richard Cherry

[nbsp][p]
Richard Cherry is one of the more familiar faces and one of Britains finest Duelist. He made it all the way to the Top 8 of Euros 2011, losing to Raul Fernandez in one of the closest matches that we featured thus far. Today, he wants to repeat his past performance and go all the way!
[/p][nbsp]

[nbsp][p]
Both him and Jovhan Roberts rely on the same Deck: Dino Rabbit. Both Duelist must now hope that their superior playing skills will help them to overcome the opposition. A little luck when it comes to drawing the right cards might also help.
[/p][nbsp]

Table 5: Tony Hoang vs. Simon He

[nbsp][p]
Simon He is another British powerhouse, having done rather well in a number of national events. This weekend, he’s on his best way to show the rest of Europe what he brings to the table and his Dino Rabbit Deck has yet to let him down.
[/p][nbsp]

One of Europe's most respected Duelists Simon He has plenty of reasons to smile!

[nbsp][p]
Tony Hoang, his opponent, is also running Dino Rabbit, but he lost the first game. He now has the advantage of going first in the second game and he desperately needs to win this one to remain hopeful for making it to the Top 32!
[/p][nbsp]

Table 6: Piyal Peiris vs. Katrin Gehre

[nbsp][p]
Currently sitting on an impressive 21 points, Katrin Gehre is bound to make European YCS history as she should be able to make it into the round of the final 32. We’ll most likely take a closer look at her in the following round where we’ll invite her to a Feature Match.
[/p][nbsp]

Katrin Gehre has this one almost in the bag!
Katrin Gehre has this one almost in the bag!

[nbsp][p]
While Gehre is running Dark World, Peiris is also following the most popular trend of the weekend, running Dino Rabbits. That served him well in that match so far as he won the first game. It seems like Gehre is about to win the second game, though, so this one’s definitely one of the most interesting matches!
[/p][nbsp]

Table 7: Chad Lloyd vs. Merlin Schumacher

[nbsp][p]
Another regular to the circuit, Merlin Schumacher needs no introduction. He is going against his friend Chad Lloyd who knows every card in Schumacher’s Deck by heart. According to Schumacher, both players have been hanging around ever since Thursday evening and played a million matches already, so there won’t be any surprises in this one.
[/p][nbsp]

Two friends have to duke it out: Merlin Schumacher and Chad Lloyd!

[nbsp][p]
Lloyd is running Wind-Ups while Schumacher makes good use of his Inzektors.
[/p][nbsp]

Table 8: Marcel Burri vs. Sascha Senne

[nbsp][p]
It’s rather obvious that Sascha Senne has the upper hand in this match, however, Marcel Burri’s sole [reaper] defends his Life Points bravely. Neither Senne’s [laggia] nor [dolkka] can find a way around the little Zombie, but it still looks like the best it can do is buy some time for Burri.
[/p][nbsp]

All that stands in Senne's way is one lone Spirit Reaper!
All that stands in Senne's way is one lone Spirit Reaper!

[nbsp][p]
Ironically, Burri relies on the very same Deck: Dino Rabbit. So once again, play skill will be the deciding factor in this game as well as lady luck.
[/p][nbsp]

Table 9: Joao Neves vs. Stephan Kaiser

[nbsp][p]
Joao Neves is about to win one of the Duels just now, controlling [zenmaines] while Kaiser is running out of cards. Then again, one good topdeck could make all the difference, after all Kaiser’s running Inzektors and it seems like there’s already [i hornet] in his Graveyard, waiting to make an appearance on the field.
[/p][nbsp]

Stephan Kaiser is waiting for a card that would allow him to bring Insektor Hornet back!
Stephan Kaiser is waiting for a card that would allow him to bring Insektor Hornet back!

[nbsp][p]
Neves will still have to say a word about that and with the tools that his Dino Rabbit Deck provides, he has more than one way to stop this play!
[/p][nbsp]

Table 10: Piran Asci vs. Thomas Degliame

[nbsp][p]
The best French player in competition at this moment is Thomas Degliame. He is going against Piran Asci who we could already watch in our Round 2 Feature Match. Asci’s Wind-Up Deck has to find a way to beast Degliame’s Dino Rabbit Deck and so far, it seems like he’s right on track, having won the first Duel.
[/p][nbsp]

Piran Asci only needs to win one more game to come out victorious in this match!

[nbsp][p]
This concludes our look at the Top Tables, where Dino Rabbit seems to be the most dominant Deck. We’ll soon know if the knock out portion of the tournament will show a similar trend, so stay tuned and be sure to check out the Standings regularly to know how your favorite players are doing!
