Top Tables Round 4

While 3 wins aren’t the strongest indicator of what Decks will end up on top of the standings at the end of the day, I wanted to take a closer look around the top tables regardless. So here are some live impressions and comments about the most successful Duelists at this point in time.

Table 1 pitted Philip Rospenda against Torben von Borstel!
Table 1 pitted Philip Rospenda against Torben von Borstel!

Torben von Borstel did something few players expected, he lead the field with Madolche! His opponent in the fourth round was Philip Rospenda, however, who wanted to secure another win with his Hieratic Dragons.

Marcel Burri had to overcome Tuncay Oelmez on table 3

While Tuncay Oelmez also relied on the Hieratic Dragons, Marcel Burri was the first Duelist I spotted at the top tables that relied on the Fire Fist archetype.
[nbsp]
He certainly wasn't the last, however, with Sascha Fabian also trying his luck with Fire Fist against Federico Zoppini!

This looked like Andreas Pagoulatos had the game in the bag already!

I wasn’t exactly sure whether the picture above indicated the end of the first Duel or if Schulz started a comeback in the following turn, but he definitely did so with X-Sabers! We’ll probably take a closer look at that shortly.

The first Geargia Deck could be spotted on table 6!

[nbsp]
The Geargia archetype had been on a roll as of late. Both YCS Turin and YCS Sydney had been won by the explosive machines and therefore it comes as no surprise that Konstantin Loser is also trying his luck with them today. If only his opponent’s wouldn’t board those nasty [sys down][s]. His opponent Filipp Betrovic on the other hand relied on Hieratic Dragons.

On table 7, Florian Hofmann went up against Steven Mdjakir

[nbsp]
Steven, who is sitting on the far end of the table, is yet another Hieratic Dragon Duelist while Florian Hofmann was faring rather well with Chain Burn up to this point. Only time could tell whether he would continue his impressive streak or not.

Kevin Langenberg had to overcome Aris Samaras' Geargia Deck!

[nbsp]
He tried to do so with his own take on the Infernity archetype, which means that we’re now up on 9 different archetypes. This seemed like a healthy mix so far!
[nbsp]
Double digits! Niels Vingerhoets was playing Harpie Ladys today!

On table 10, we saw Valens Leteurtre going up against Vasilis Makris-Nikodimou!

[nbsp]
Or if you’re more into their Deck types: Fire Fist vs. Mermails. But don’t you worry, we just had to follow the line down a little further to spot even more interesting Decks.
[nbsp]
Sandor Malinowski once again tried his luck with the Six Samurai!

[nbsp]
His opponent Marius Miksch, on the other hand, was trying his luck with Infernities. This was bound to get interesting!
[nbsp]
Table 25 saw Andrea Zenari trying to unleash the combos of the Inzektors against Alexander Schulz!

[nbsp]
This time it wasn’t the Greeks that tried to come out on top with Inzektors, but there was much more to see on this table. Alexander Schulz put his trust in a Blackwing Deck!
[nbsp]
Even players as experienced as Stefano Memoli occassionally ask for the help of a judge.

[nbsp]
While Stefano Memoli relied on one of the “Decks to beat”, his opponent Kimonas Tsitsiridis tried to hold his ground with Inzektors. Yet another match that was probably rather exciting!
[nbsp]
As you can see, the dust hasn’t really settled yet and plenty of Decks are fighting for a place near the top. Some of these archetypes haven’t done so well so far, but this might change this very weekend!
