Top Tables Round 9
I took another quick look around, trying to figure out what archetypes are currently on top of the field. We will start with a Brotherhood of the Fire Fist Deck on the very first table, so this is gonna get interesting!

The second table featured the first Dragon Ruler mirror while on the third table, one of the players was a no-show, so his opponent got a crucial step closer to the Top 32 without having to win a single game!

Table 4 pits France’s Vincent [rala] against Germany’s Dave Grabert, both of which are relying on the Dragon Rulers as well. This trend continued on table 5, however, table 6’s match was quite a different story; here, Luigi Alici had to overcome Dustin Sembach’s Bujin deck! We’ll definitely take a closer look at this Deck in the following round and introduce it to a wider audience in a Deck Analysis.

Jake Quinsee, who put up yet another strong showing this weekend so far, had to square off against Piyal Peiris, a fellow Evilswarm player.

Today, Chris Bountaloudis opted to try his luck with Evilswarm and he got paired against Paolo Trapani, playing Fire Fist. That concluded the first 12 tables, so I headed over to the second row.

It seemed like Geargia was in hot pursuit of the top spots with William Pedigo on table 13 and Matej Jakob on table 14, both of which were getting paired against more Dragon Ruler players.

Evilswarm was obviously the second most popular archetype at the first few rows, but even though plenty of Duelists had strong Day 1 finishes, the majority of the top spots were in the firm grip of Dragon Ruler players.

So as you can see, there are quite a few alternatives to the Dragon Rulers, but if one of them will be able to best the opposition in the final rounds, we’ll only learn a little later today, so stay tuned!
