Good morning everyone around the world and welcome to the final day of action at this year’s Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship. 33 of the world’s best Duelists assembled here in Rimini (Italy) yesterday to take part in the Swiss portion of the tournament, all vying for a spot in today’s playoffs. Now only 16 remain, as the Top 8 competitors in each division compete for the title of World Champion.

Looking at the Senior Division, the key talking point overnight has been the performance of the North American Duelists. In the history of the World Championship there has never been a (Senior Division) World Champion from North America, but with 4 of them in the Top 8 they have their best chance yet. One of those Duelists has come down this road before, as last year’s Dragon Duel World Champion, Oliver Tomajko, has made an excellent transition to the Senior Division, winning 4 of his 5 Matches yesterday.

The home crowd still has a Duelists to cheer for in the playoffs as well, as Italy’s Niccolo Mazzoleni finished 5th in yesterday’s portion of the tournament. Last year’s World Champion from Taiwan, Sin-En Huang, is also in the Top 8, can he be the first ever back-to-back World Champion?
Our Top 8 Dragon Duelists have also returned today to compete for the title of Dragon Duel World Champion. There is a wide mix of regions represented in this one, with players from Europe, Asia and North & Central America in the playoffs. After briefly looking through the Decklists earlier I spotted some potentially exciting matchups, some of which you’ll be able to follow live on Twitch.

Our first Feature Match today will be the Dragon Duel Quarter-Final, followed by the Senior Division’s Semi-Final, and then the Final match in both divisions to end what has been an incredible journey. It is a dream of every Duelist competing with their friends at their local stores to one day climb the ranks, succeed in big international events and ultimately become the next “King of Games”. For 2 Duelists today, that dream will become a reality.

Join us for the entire day as we reach the exciting conclusion of the 2014 Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship. Best of luck to our remaining competitors!
