Good morning and welcome back to Day 2 of WCQ: European Championship 2016. We are still in Berlin and players are getting ready to start Round 9. Yesterday more than 1.400 players entered the Main Event with a wide variety of decks and strategies. The field has narrowed down to a 378 Duelists still in competition.

Round 9[abstand]
Saturday was a very long day. Duelists fought through 8 Rounds of Swiss only to return for three more today. All players with 19 points or higher are entitled to continue playing in the Main Event today. That’s 378 players in total. All of them still have a chance to claim the title from Ido Marcus. At the end of the day Europe will crown a new champion and Team Europe will be announced.

Deck-wise the field was led by the big three with a surprise contender. Monarchs, Kozmo and Phantom Knight Burning Abyss nearly took 50% of the field. Making a strong showing today is a Pendulum deck with Majespecters. We’ll see how that turns out. The North American WCQ last weekend was dominated by Burning Abyss decks, but Europe seems to have a slightly different metagame yet again.

As the Main Events tends to get smaller and smaller Public Events get more popular. Stay tuned for all the action of the second and final day of [wcq2016]!
