Welcome to YCS Bochum 2013!

[p]Good morning everyone and welcome to snowy Germany![/p]
[p]History was made at this very location in 2010 when the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series made its long-awaited debut in Europe. Well over 1000 Duelists travelled from all over Europe (and beyond) to compete for fame, glory and the highly desired YCS prize cards. After 11 rounds of Swiss and a Top 32 playoff, it all came down to local favourite Michel Grüner and Israel’s Eden Zamir to compete in the final Match. The atmosphere was electric as these 2 Duelists pushed each other to their Dueling limits and the 1000 strong crowd cheered them on. In the end it was Grüner who would emerge victorious to the delight of his home crowd. Premier level play had made its mark in Europe and it was here to stay.[/p]
[p]Fast-forward to today and a lot has happened since that fateful event 29 months ago. The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship series has crossed the continent, taking in such illustrious locations as Milan, Paris and Barcelona, and crowning new champions in Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain. Europe was clearly the place to be for special Yu-Gi-Oh! experiences, so much so that the World Championship made its way here in 2011, along with the first ever Sealed YCS in 2012.[/p]
[p]This weekend’s event will be one of 2 “end of format” extravaganzas to take place simultaneously across the world, as YCS Santiago in Chile will be kicking off in a few hours time. The results of both events will be dictated by 6 months of Deck development and fine tuning before the new Forbidden & Limited Cards List takes effect on March the 1st. Any breakthrough strategies that Duelists have been keeping secret will be unleashed this weekend and we’ll be here in Bochum to bring you all the major stories live.[/p]
[p]This weekend you can expect to see some innovative strategies, ambitious plays and memorable Feature Matches. We’ll also be bringing you the latest from the ever-so-popular Public Events and will take a look back at the past 6 months before casting our eyes towards the future and the impending “Nationals Season” and World Championship Qualifiers. Registration is nearing its completion as you read this, so there’s not long to wait before we get to see some top-drawer Dueling action.[/p]
[p]Get ready for the YCS’ triumphant return to where it all began, IT’S TIME TO DUEL!![/p]
