Welcome to YCS Brighton!

17.12.2011 | 10:54 |

[p]Good morning Duelists and welcome to the last YCS of 2011. It’s been an eventful and exciting 12 months but we’ve got just enough time to squeeze one last event in before the holidays, and we’ve come to Merry Ol’ England for 2 days of top-notch Dueling action![p]

YCS Brighton takes place at the city of (you guessed it) Brighton on the Southern coast of England, about an hour’s train ride away from London. We’re here at The Brighton Centre located right beside the sea and if you look outside you’ll see miles of pebble beach lining the coast, along with the city’s famous Brighton Pier to our left. Brighton’s one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations though the weather’s often a little nicer than what we have today!

Yuma makes his European debut!

[br]
But enough about the location for now, let’s get back to why we’re here, the [ycs]! YCS Brighton is the first European YCS of the current format, following on from the 4 we’ve had in North and South America. As we’re almost halfway through the current format the top Decks are already somewhat established but there’s always room for new ideas, new strategies, and new ways for Duelists to make it to the top tables!

Plenty of great prizes on offer!

[br]
Going into this event there’s a few Decks that everybody’s on the lookout for. Top of the list is Plant Synchro, which took American Duelist Billy Brake to 2 successive YCS titles in recent months. The “Plant” portion of the Deck isn’t as large as it used to be, but the Deck still lives on through the many other things that Duelists have tried out in order to find “the perfect build”. As a result it’s the most versatile Deck out there and in the eyes of many it’s the one to beat.

Stardust Dragon flew in to say hello!

[br]
Grapha’s European legion is also here in full force as there’s plenty of Dark World Decks to be seen! The Deck’s recent successful appearance at YCS Kansas (where it made it to the Top 16 with more in the Top 32) has given Duelists around the world many ideas in how to make the Deck as strong as possible. [sdgu] is the best thing to happen to the Deck in years and it’ll be interesting to see what Duelists on this side of the Atlantic are trying out to give Grapha the Christmas present of a YCS victory.
[br]
There’s also plenty of other Decks to watch out for, from Chaos to Karakuri, Agents to Rabbits, as well as a wide variety of Anti-Meta Decks ready to shut everything down and take all the glory for themselves! Finally, [ha05] makes its YCS debut here weekend, so we may even see an entirely new Deck go all the way.
[br]

Blood Mefist is also making his European debut here.

[br]
In addition to the main event there’s tons of Public Events for Duelists to compete in! Duelists can win Game Mats and Giant Cards, take part in Dragon Duel and Pegasus League events, and even win an all expensed paid trip to California for the 100th YCS, taking place at Long Beach next year! The journey to the 2012 [wc] is already underway and there’ll be WCQ Regional Qualifiers taking place throughout the weekend, with the top Duelists earning invites to the 2012 WCQ: European Championship.

Public Events!

[br]
That’s not all though, as there’s 2 YCS prize cards to be given out to Duelists who participate in Public Events! 2 playoff events will take place tomorrow evening; one for the Duelists with the most points amassed from taking part in events all weekend, and one between 2 random Duelists from all that have competed in Public Events here in Brighton. [mefist] is making his European debut in style and 5 Duelists will walk away with this all-new Synchro Monster in their Extra Decks!

No matter what way you look at it, there’s a lot of action ready to take place here at YCS Brighton over the next 2 days, and we’ll be here to keep you updated every step of the way. So for the last time this year… it’s time to Duel!
